Washington Post, Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010

John Kelly's Washington
---------------------------------

National Press Club Sept. 27, 2010

" ..... if I remained unconvinced by the presention on how UFO's have been systematically hovering over our country's nuclear missiles and occasionally disabling them, perhaps as a warning to humankind, perhaps as part of some sort of anthropology project......

The press conference was open only to credentialed media and to congressional staff; like "John Bailey" from the House Armed Services Committee.

UFO researcher Robert Hastings was behind a lectern, facing 8 cameras. There were four men to his left, three to his right. These men were all retired from the U.S. Air Force and had all signed affidavits attesting to what they had witnessed. Their claims were strikingly similar: In 1967, Air Force ICBM crews, locked deep in their bunkers, recieved panicked phone calls from topside security guards who reported unusual lights in the sky.
Hastings said that because similar incidents had occurred in the Soviet Union----as attested to in declassified KGB files----it was not the Russians messing us or us messing with the Russians.
Most of the witnesses had not seen anything, just spoken to someone who had seen something. {"I said, 'Make sure nothing comes inside the perimeter fence,' " said Robert Salas, who at the time was at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.}
But a few had. The UFO that Pat McDonough saw when part of an Air Force geodetic survey team in 1966 was round and about 300 feet in diameter. A light shone down from the craft, and McDonough was afraid he might be beamed up.
The UFO that Bruce Fenstermacher saw in 1976 near Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming was "shaped like a pregnant cigar." He said that the day after his sighting he approached an officer to ask what had happened.
"He said:'It's Top Secret. It didn't happen.' I wanted to say, which is it? Top Secret or it didn't happen.
"Do you have a question?" Hastings ask.
"Are you aware ,"the man said, "that the NSA was partially founded to monitor aliens?"
Hastings said he has heard the rumors about the NSA. And the CIA.

Sorry about the title misspelling when sights should have sites.

When I was a teen I was very interested in UFO's, bigfoot, the loch ness monster, ghosts, etc.

Now I won't believe it until one lands in front of me and an alien hops out and says hello.

The aliens don't want us to have ICBMs because it would ruin the fishing

I read a report where a warhead was actually removed from an ICBM. The Air Force actually lost a warhead to aliens from outer space. My guess is they wanted the uranium to fuel their ship, going back to where they came from.

We are lucky nobody was killed.

The silo was breached. The security forces M-16's were vaporized by a red laser fired by the alien creatures.

This was a report that was leaked. I was not at the scene.

I personally know one of these men who testified at the National Press Club yesterday. He is very level-headed, down to earth, and a straight shooter. The kind of man that we all hope is manning our nuclear launch facilities.

He kept the incident that he was involved in to himself for many years, only 'coming out' when he saw man on Larry King a few years ago describing a similar incident. He thought-hey, wow, this guy was there when my incident happened in 1976, only to find that the guy was describing something that happened in 1967.

in any case-if you've got some time to kill here are youtube links to the press conference. They guy I know is in parts 3 and 4, and a little later in the Q&A section.

There were a couple of nut-cases asking questions after the retired Air Force personnel gave their testimonies. In my opinion-these guys should have cut them short. Also, a couple of the guys went on to speculate as to the motives of whatever visitors they encountered-they probably should have nixed that as well.

Take me to your leader.[ROFL1]

This reminds me of a conversation I overheard in a local gun shop about how the Flatirons south of Boulder were 'built' by the USG, oh and Cheyenne Mountain is fake too. There are armed guards at the Flatirons and these armed guards have accosted hikers asking them 'What are you doing here?!'. Of course all heads nodded in agreement except mine, I bought what I wanted and left.

There is a conspiracy behind everything if you look hard enough.

Also : Ex Air Force officers discuss UFO's and nuclear at ...
"Alleged incident in 1967 at a Montana missile base where 10 Minuteman Missiles were mysteriously deactivated as a UFO hovered overhead."

Thanks again guy's, because my eyes are even more open to a larger world!

I was under the impression that every pilot has seen some sort of unexplained craft at some point over their career, and just don't talk about it in order to maintain their career.

In aviation, "Unidentified Flying Object" is just that, something in the air they couldn't identify. It's not the same thing as Extraterrestrial Intelligent Life. Less than a year after moving to CO I saw three lights in the night sky that climbed and then faded out. My best guess is they were missiles of some sort, that headed east over the Sangre de Christos, maybe from the Pinyon Canyon maneuver site. What I think I saw was the initial exhaust plume and then a shot from behind as they moved out of visual range. Not unlike watching a shuttle launch.

The book Probability 1 talks about the Drake equation,

The Drake equation states that:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/math/8/4/7/847914dec26cc45ac2957da0054683de.png where:

N = the number of civilizations (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Civilization) in our galaxy with which communication might be possible; and
R* = the average rate of star (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Star) formation per year in our galaxy (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Milky_Way)
fp = the fraction of those stars that have planets (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Planet)
ne = the average number of planets that can potentially support life (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Life) per star that has planets
fℓ = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point
fi = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Intelligence) life
fc = the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space
L = the length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.[3] (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Drake_equation#cite_note-2)

https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Drake_equation

But as someone else mentioned earlier, there's no point in worrying about it until there is some real proof.

I've for sure seen some flying object that did weird things, but I wouldn't say it was extraterrestrial. I never said that pilots saw aliens; just things that they've never encountered before and couldn't explain.

PLease also not that you would have to know the exact moment when it was going to hit and where.

I love the term UFO
Unidentified flying Object

I can just imagine the poor NCO having to explain to his superiors where the ICBM's nuclear warhead went.

Superiors; What happened to the warhead?

NCO; Aliens took it.

Superiors; Okay, carry on.

yup.

Personally I believe that when you're looking at a funny fast moving light in the sky you're seeing the USAF in action.

A flying saucer was low on fuel

A flying saucer was low on fuel, so it landed near a nuclear facility. On its side were the letters "UFO".
The guard at the facility was stunned, but his curiosity got the best of him.
"Does that stand for Unidentified Flying Object?" he asked.
"No," one of the other-worldly travelers responds. "It stands for 'Unleaded Fuel Only'."
