SH 83 PARKER RD. @ SH88 ARAPAHOE RD.
I just thought I would save you from a TRAFFIC NIGHTMARE On Saturday 10/23/10 CDOT AND the CONTRACTORS are realigning Parker Rd. approximately 300 feet to the west, this is to facilitate the construction of the Parker Rd. Fly Over. There will be a temporary Traffic Signal at the realigned intersection that will be contractor maintained. ( Remember CDOT Projects are LOW BID. ) This shift and Traffic Signal is temporary, only for the duration of the project.
Please find and use an alternate route, due to the narrowing of the intersection and until the motoring public gets used to the changes, this intersection will become even more congested than it already is.

Hope this information helps your daily commute,

SideShow Bob.

I second this, this intersection was a nightmare before during rush hour. Now it's like sitting in Purgatory with the construction thats going on. Unfortunately for me I have no other way to get to and from work without being taking waaaaay out of my way.

Oh Sweet Jeebus! I haven't been up that way lately, but it's always sucked around there. Thanks for the warning! A flyover, huh? That might not be a bad thing.

But the estimated two year construction time is a BAD THING !

Fortunately i'll be off on Saturday, so i'll get to miss the initial cluster fu$%, however I take this route to Parker daily, so I foresee some headaches until completion. I got off work a couple hours early today, and ended up at the intersection right at 1500, and East bound Arapahoe traffic on the West side of Parker, was backed up as far as the eye could see, it was truly ridiculous.

Wait a minute here. You're saying no Old Chicago pizza buffet for lunch . . . . . . . . . It can't be so.

This warning is awesome. On behelf of everyone on the site: Thank you Bob!

Oh man, OC's has the best pizza crust too. Over the years I've gotten to where I don't even eat pizza crust any more because it's just to tough an dnasty. Old Chicago's crust's are the exception - dang their good.

(The rest of the pizza is amazing too.)

Thanks Bob I probably would have driven directly into that shithole.

Also, I used to work at an Old C's, we didn't have no buffet though WTF!

Guess I finally had something worthwhile to post.
Not like my usual offhand and or off color remarks that tend to kill threads. [Tooth]

There is zero chance that I'll be over there anyway, but this is a great post.

Don't worry Bob, there is plenty of opportunity left to become a full fledged assassin.[Tooth]

I know that I've had plenty of threads that I've posted something in that I thought was particularly profound and then there was nothing but the sound of crickets in the thread after that. Never have figured out what I said that's caused that reaction.

I see lots of funny posts and don't comment on them because I already post enough without a ton of LOL! and LMAO posts as well.

It was a pain in the ass yesterday at 1300, and it has been one for the last few weeks of construction. It will be nice when they are done though.

A flyover on parker road and arapahoe? Seems like overkill. That's going to be a mess for a while, not that it's ever been great. Glad I don't have to go through there every day. Thanks for the info!

I live in SE Aurora and work in the Parker area. I have come up with a couple of back-routes that save a lot of time and headache.

You can take Pine Lane out to Pine Drive, go north and it will turn into Inspiration. You can get into the Smokey Hill/Southlands area a number of ways from that area. Not a lot of people are using it yet.

It takes me a little out of my way but I think it is worth it for sure.

Now that you posted your secret route, Everybody and their mothers will be using that way. It'll be worse than Parker @ Arapahoe. [LOL]

Welcome to my world! I pass that intersection two times a day to/from work. All the other alternate routes are jam packed also. A neighborhood put up signs saying "no through traffic", curious if they can actually ticket anyone. Its a public road, i can be looking at homes in the area.

Thinking about buying a season park pass to cut through cherry creek reservoir

If they want to ticket you, they'll have to catch you. And that means stopping. Which means you aren't passing through :)

Alright, went to work this morning around 7:50 i go through this intersection, they have started the change over but havent completed it yet. It wasnt to bad, i travel south on parker to west on arapahoe the turn lane is still there. So i was kinda pleased with the way it was goin. Now i leave work at 4:07 i know because i call my wife. Normally this is a 15 min drive max. Its smooth running till i get to jordan rd, then its packed like it is on a friday afternoon, after 45 min of sitting there i make it to the shopping center. Lucky for me there was a firetruck trying to get east bound and they let us roll through till the truck made it so my normal 15 min max trip took me over an hour. I think they will eventually have more lanes open (they only had 1 going east/west) but as of right now find a different route, ill update again later.[Bang][Bang][Bang][Bang]

Has anyone been brave or masochistic enough to venture though here during the evening rush hour ?
How do you north bound to west bounders like exiting to the east before the detour to go west on Arapahoe ? This is the way it will be after the fly over is complete.
I had to go out there this morning due to the contractors not doing their job and fixing their screwup when they installed the temp. signals. You would not believe the number of drivers that do not know what a NO LEFT TURN sign means.
Be aware, the Prime Contractor is getting a full time UTC to monitor and ticket the north bound to west bound turn violators.
I'm just trying to save you the cost of a violation in a construction zone.

Going South bound on Parker road today, right around 1700, and much to my surprise, traffic was better than normal. I don't know if most are avoiding it (not an option for me) or what, but it was actually nice, didn't even have to stop at the intersection, just right on through. Knock on wood it will continue to be this way.

I noticed no back up as well, I am thinking maybe the temporary construction light that works better than the old light may have something to do with it.

I think you are probably right about that, it seemed to last significantly longer than the old light.

Im lucky and almost never hit that intersection at rush hour but it seems like the construction company has their life together because the traffic seems to be flowing good if not better than before

It is running the same progamming and cycle length.(less the north bound left turn.) The construction must be making those that can take a differant route.

Yeah, hopefully it will continue to run smooth. Since the first lane shift, I've only had one hold up, otherwise traffic has been better than the way it originally was.
