Why do people still live in NYC? I went there on a trip once and it was a filthy, dirty, too busy to do anything type place...

But in other news: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/10/23/nyc-proposal-renders-bad-drivers-debtors-unfit-guns/

Basically: You want a handgun? "We" have to deem you worthy.

So the constitution only applies to you if you've met the required prerequisites?

I agree with HBAR, fuck new york.

There's a way we can fix this, but I won't post it because it will make people sad.

Not sure what list we are talking Sir... Is that a threat or a congratulatory remark?... HA.

I agree with the second sentiments you posted however.

NYC has some great music and shows, but the bad attitude of the people and just a closeness of the buildings and trash, etc... I just don't care for. I like farmland and being able to see the horizon, and knowing who most of your neighbors are, etc.

I figured it belonged in the Politics section. I'll let you have the next one, lol.

There's a lot of the country east of Ohio and north of the Mason-Dixon line that I could do without. Think China might take New York and New Jersey as partial payment for the debts we owe 'em? I'd offer DC too, but they would want MORE money to take that off our hands (besides, they already own most of it, if you know what I mean).

How do people live there? I feel like CO and AZ have too much "big brother" for my taste! The crazy part is, some people like it! I suppose giving up freedom for "security" *coughFAILcough* may seem like a good idea if you are afraid of shadows and loud noises. I barely trust my dog, hell I don't fully trust myself around a good cheese burger, how do these people trust the .gov so much?

Actually, the entire state is like that, not just NYC.

The issuing judge can deny, restrict or revoke permits at will, "for any good cause" which he is not required to disclose -- even on appellate review.

This proposed ordinance simply allows local law enforcement the ability to arbitrarily revoke permits as well.

Oh, and possession of an unlicensed unregistered handgun -- even an antique or black powder piece -- anywhere outside your home is a felony with a mandatory minimum of a year in jail and a maximum of 7 years.

Private party sales of handguns are highly restricted with mandatory registration. If you do not have a permit you cannot purchase a handgun, and it is a criminal offense to simply to handle one at a gun show. It is insane.

New York hates guns. The politicians, courts and police all agree that gun ownership equals criminality unless you not only have an official "permission slip" but have followed all the rules in the fine print as well.

And yet there are still armed robberies, homicides, etc.... How can people not understand the idiocracy.... I'm speechless, lol.

NYS gun laws harken back to Tammany Hall's "Sullivan Act" intended to disarm non Irish immigrants and blacks.

It is all about dominance and control.

Liberals love those concepts: "If your opinion differs from ours, you need to be stripped of your rights and thrown in jail."

On top of all this is the fact that IF you have a pistol permit, say from Orange County or Chemung County NY. You can not carry with'in NYC,and vise versa.
Uslly you have to pay a lawer to get a NYC permit.

Remember a few years ago when Chicago privatized the parking meters and prices instantly quadrupled up to as high as $4.25 an hour? Well now there have been a rash of pay box thefts. At least 22 of them stolen and less than half recovered. That's what you get for selling out your community Chicago.

Carry on hating New York.
