Hilarious.
So if I carry they will have to stay 1000ft away, Deal!
Hmmm... does this mean that their bodyguards have to be unarmed? I can see serious civil rights issues here, as this would essentially be a restraining order against pretty much anyone that has a firearm. F*cking asshats didn't bother to think this sh!t through. How in the f*ck did these morons even manage to breathe without cue cards? [Bang][Bang][Bang]
Last I checked, attempting to kill someone was against the law anyhow, so why in the hell do we need yet another useless law that only affects the law abiding?
I have a better idea: Let's pass a law that makes it a felony for a politician to come within 1000 feet of a law abiding citizen who happens to have a firearm!
and yet another reason why i want to get out of new york!!![Rant1]

Do you really expect Mayor Bloomnidiot to react any other way? He is who he is.
But let me get this right- If I am walking/driving down the street and I am lawfully allowed to carry and do so and Mrs Crotchrot who is on City Council comes within 1000' of me:
I AM THE CRIMINAL?

would make it illegal to bring a gun within 1,000 feet of a government official.
They left off the part of the bill that will require all public officials to now carry a multi-colored bouquet of balloons each stamped "public official" around with them wherever they go - just to make things fair and equitable to those who wish to exercise their 2A rights.

"Passing a similar law for government officials would give federal, state, and local law enforcement a better chance to intercept would-be shooters before they pull the trigger," King's statement said.
Yeah, 'cuz there weren't any existing laws covering the firing of the gun while pointing it at people with intent to commit murder. Just think, if we had a law to make murder illegal, that would have stopped him too - because it would have given "federal, state, and local law enforcement a better chance to intercept would-be shooters before they pull the trigger".
A$$hats!

I propose that they pass a law that says the Public Officials MUST stay 10,000 feet away from my firearms at all times.
To make them aware I will shout at all times "I have a gun"!
Makes about as much sense!
No one has ever been shot from over 1000ft away - Fact
I find these attempts at law making disgusting, I'm sure Nutso Mcghee's always apply for their CCW before they conceal them en route to their rampage, and follow no-gun zone laws, and never commit crimes like attempted murder right? Something must be done (just not what these clowns ever suggest).

Simple solution...
Make .gov officials live in large, luxurious, private enclaves guarded by security 24-7...
Oh... wait.

well lets see here,
My intention is to commit 1st degree murder and assasinate a government official with an illegally obtained firearm.
Aww shit man... that new law went into effect today saying I Can't bring my gun near him... gonna have to think of something else!
so as I read this it sounds like a mobile gun free zone that follows the official
Should work!

Ha true LOL on my end after reading that
What a joke..
This law would not prevent any crimes from occurring, it would only create more "crime." Simply criminalizing carrying a gun within 1000ft does not solve any problems. IF someone is carrying a gun knowingly and plans to use it for harm, this law proposal does nothing for prevention of gun crimes. Not to mention its a stepping stone of our rights becoming terminated.
This is politics at its purist form..

The proposed law says "knowingly" so all you have to say is, "I didn't know that idiot was a congressman."

Except that
(1) They're pretty good at letting people know who and what they are at all times, and
(2) "Knowing" isn't always really "knowing" in the eyes of the law - at least not for you. They can use the arguement that a typical/reasonable person would have "known" - even if you didn't. Trust me, I've been snagged on this one before!

I think everyone has been snagged on that one before one way or another. For instance, I never got the birds and the bees story... I figured it out quick after my oldest girl came along. [ROFL1]
