Was at today's Tanner show and saw what I thought was a good deal;

Old-timer had M4gery Stag Uppers for ~465.00 and a complete rifle built on a Plum Crazy Lower for ~550ish AND free CBI check. Again, I'm talking Gunshow.

Seemed like a deal to me although I'm not sure yet what I think of the PCL...

I bought my second PCL. :) Take it to Rob at Bowers and have him file it down so mags drop free.

Thanks for the tip at Shades of Grey!

Who did you buy the rifle from? Was it Colorado Brass? He's a nice guy.

Dam I just might have to go and check out the Tanner one of these times. I havent been to a gun show in years. I hate how the vendors BS and lie to you, to get you to buy there Special limited edition, going to be banned, over priced crap. I guess they havent heard of this new little thing called the internet, I hear it's catching on.

Picked up an Aimpoint Micro for my dad for $450.

Saw a Glock 17 RTF for $430 including tax, did a lap around thinking about it, and when I got back it was gone. [Mad]

Oh well, live and learn, right? He who hesitates is lost.

I didn't buy that AR. I told my wife when I got home and she was surprised I didn't buy it. [Rant1] Of course that does NOT mean I can go back tomorrow and see if its still there she says.

Dang thats an excellent price on that Glock! I was there looking for a G17 (at a good price). The ones I saw were 520.00+ which when I think about it, is not a bad price.

IMO, it seems if you are willing to spend the time looking, you can find a few deals, which wasn't the case a couple of years ago...

I saw that plum crazy too, thought it was a fair deal myself. I scored some hard to find mags, and lot's of 8mm for $8.00/70 rounds.

Wow if that was new that is a great price! Could you let me know who was selling it, I would like to do business with their distributor. Thanks for the heads up! $249.00 is way below dealer cost!

I didn't have the cash else I would have bought it.

I'm not sure how much walking around you did, but it was the guy who had a Saiga 12 for $550, across the lane and north from Machine Gun Tours. Sorry I don't have a name.

It had the tag on it so it was new...did they make a version without the laser? Maybe thats why it was cheap. I can't figure it out otherwise.

Sounds like it might have been the old Sigma380, not the Bodyguard. Those haven't been made for quite awhile and they would fit into the $250 range.

Seems they were discontinued in 2000, so unless he put a new S&W tag back on it, I don't think it was. Could have I suppose.

Ive never been to the Tanner gun show, I might go this weekend. If anyone will be there with a good deal on a S&W M&P compact 9mm with the thumb safety that will increase the odds of me going to 99.9%

Thanks in advance for any info

There is one posted for sale here, I PM'ed the seller Monday and havent gotten a response. I imagine the site being down yesterday could cause the delay, or work or life in general so no big deal.

Darn guy at the gun club the other day, I was looking at XD Subcompact and Glock 26. Call me crazy and yes I only pull the trigger when I mean to fire but I am more comfortable with a safety if I am putting a loaded gun near my groin. I told him if I could find a polymer compact 9mm with a thumb saftey for under $500 I would be in trouble and the jerk pulls out the M&P Compact and says I can order it with the safety........

Love at first sight

So, how do you define a fair deal from a good deal from a great deal?

Very subjective. My definition;

Fair deal - Slightly less than you can buy from a local store.

Good deal - Less than you can find at any local store, not as low as you can find if you shopped the net sites.

Great deal - Significantly less than any local store and matches or beats the lowest prices on the net from trusted/established sites.

Of course thats just from the financial point of view. What they are selling, condition, etc are also factors...

Do I need it NOW? if so, then i print out the prices and bring them to show and walk the tables. Remember that you need to include the cost of shipping and tax if applicable.

Can I wait? refer to above

Do I have CASH or CC? CASH talks, CC gets u a 3% fee most of the time.

Most of the powder/bullet guys now are charging higher prices. Randy from R&S is really competitive with his prices. I use him for my 44mag, 45acp tips. Most of his ammo prices can't be beat, but sometimes wallie world is competitive. Ash used to be the go to man, but he's out of the business. I now user powder valley for the defacto standard for component prices.

For firearms, i prefer the following sites, armslist, gunbroker and colorado gun market. I like picking up stuff off paper, but that's just me. I've picked up some good deals though on used guns at the show, but that was before Barry got into office.

Overall, KNOW YOUR PRICES BEFORE YOU GO TO THE SHOW. Here's an example that will make you look like an idiot, and get you laughed out of that table...
Compare a Sig p238 standard model, to a Sig P238 SAS
Compare a Glock gen2 frame to gen3, or gen3 to a gen4
A free floated AR to a non free floated ar
A low end ar to a colt
A romo ak to a russian or yugo ak
