View Full Version : Need a bit of help
It's been about 2.5 years since I moved back to Colorado.
I love being back. Except I can't find an old fashioned barber shop in Elbert or Douglas county.
I want the kind that used to be near Southglenn Mall 30 years ago. Small, with 2 old retired military guys cutting hair with a straight razor, deer heads on the wall, playboys on the counter.
Does such a place exist anymore?
i hope you find one!
those are some of the best!!!
we had one like that here in ny
the owner was a retired sgt major-guy knew how to do a regulation cut blindfolded!!
what was great about it was the guy was an ffl as well,so while you were gettin your cut you can look at the wall and pick out your next toy!!
those days here are loong gone since the kommies started takin over :(

Few and far between these days! It's been awhile since I have been since I buzz my own but this was the first place that came to my mind. While you may not find the playboys at the counter it's still one of the last few "old school" barber shops I know of. Been around longer than I have and I am my 40's.

When I first moved to the Metro area (5 years ago), I lived in Denver off of Colorado and Yale. There is a really good Barber shop at the North end of the University Hills shopping center. All of the Barbers are Vets, and can cut a real good flat top, high and tight, whatever you want. Don't think I remember seeing any playboys, but it was a good shop.

There is an old style Barber shop at Buckley & Mexico in Aurora, Ask for Enricka ( the old guy ) for that old time barber experience.

For the haircut...
Place on Hampden and Chambers (NE Corner). Russian lady does great regulation style haircuts and will shave you to the skin, lots of military go in there...
She doesn't provide porn, so not sure where to go for that...there are several Pleasures stores in the metro area (not sure where they ALL are...lol)[Coffee]

Not in the area you are looking but the Haricraft Co. in Woodland Park is great. I haven't been in a couple years as I am now in Littleton but I know many people that still go get a nice cut from Jim. He hunts, shoots, loves to share stories and he used to have his dog there all the time too...maybe still does.

Dude your looking for "The clip joint" the owner/barber is a ex Marine. Names Steve, great guy. Has a humidor and cigar lounge with A/V system. Out in the main area where he cuts hair (and old school straight razor shaves) he has a big screen and pool table, I belive he gives .mil and police discount but dont quote me, even if he dont he is super affordable and the only barber ill ever use, you could balance a cup of nitro on one of his flattops and have no worries! Hes on 700 billings street, at 225 and chambers. tell him Robb sent you.

Fewer and fewer places are using straight razors since the fear of transmitting HIV/AIDS became a concern. Sad because that's how you could get a REALLY close cut/shave.
I miss the straight razor haircuts. Seemed to be Italian barbers where I grew up who were eventually replaced by Phillipino barbers.
I stopped being nostalgic for the straight razor shaves after watching Sweeney Todd.
I haven't put a razor to my face in a decade, but I'd definitely get an old fashioned shave with a razor.. if I could find a shop.

For Chrissake at least be a literate racist, it's "Filipino".
