I'm in the Army (ugh) and more and more I see soldiers that do not have licenses. Not because they are suspended but because the never got one. I know a lot of states have implemented laws that make the process longer. This may have something to do with it but I still see some that are 20ish with out them. It boggles my mind.

When I was 15 I was in the first Drive's ed class i could pay for and had my licenses in months.

Also I truly believe that these laws do not promote good driving, since people are new drivers at 18. Hell i know 25+ people that should be perma-banned from driving.

So Parents with driver age kids is it really that much of a pain in the ass that they'd rather wait until they are 18+.

If this applies to you why don't you have your license? Lazy, too hard.

My brother just got his a few years ago, he's 23, but he's lazy slash stupid.

Please enlighten me.

I had mine a few months after my 16th birthday. I was one of the first in my group of friends, in spite of being one of the youngest. My brother's getting his at the end of the month, and he's nearly 17. I would chalk that up to pure laziness, but like you said-it's getting increasingly difficult to go through the process. I wouldn't say that's such a bad thing though.

I had mine roughly 30 minutes after the DMV opened, the morning of my 16th birthday. My brothers also had theirs the day they turned 16. It's probably a mixture of things, laziness, fuel prices, bad economy in general. Also seems like it's not as much of a novelty as it was when I was 16. For me it was independence, seems like anymore, many kids would prefer to have mommy and daddy holding their hands.

As a parent the moment your kid gets the DL you start paying for insurance.

In my house that was on me, I actually turned my CO DL back in at 17 as I did not have the cash to cover insurance on cars I was not allowed to drive. I have a CA DL that I used during the summers to drive work trucks in CA.

they're lazy.

I've seen GI's do a lot of stupid stuff that me (or anyone with half a brain) would never do.

enlisting does not make you smart or brave.

though many people who are smart and brave do enlist.

I got mine on my birthday, just before they started implementing all those new rules.

I'm the number one subscriber to this thought.

Armies depend on stupid people. who else would you get to charge a MG nest for some belief.

I got mine a couple of days after I turned 16. By then I was already on my second car and 3rd Kart since I had been racing since I was 12.

When I bought my first Kart I found a guy in HS that had a car and told him "if ya take me and my Kart to the track I will let ya drive it" [Coffee]

oh and I got my license when I turned 16, after having a learners permit for a year.

the more you drive, the more experience you gain and the better you get.

I don't agree with people that think driving age should be raised to 18.

Didn't think you needed one either for a horse and carriage.

I had to get mine so they could charge points against it. Sucks getting a 15 point ticket before you even have your permit

when we were kids, everyone got a permit at 15 3/4 and everyone was driving by 16. its what kids did.
