I'd like some input from you guys on what work I can do to my XD9 Tactical to make it more accurate, aside from replacing the shooter. [ROFL1]
I've never shot in a match, but would like to someday. Just wondering what you guys have done to your pistols internally and externally to make them more competitive and accurate. Thanks
there is quite a bit you can to do modify the XD series.
new barrels, sights, trigger work are pretty common modifications.

Talk to rob at bowers, or shoot him a PM. His name here is "firemoth". He Is amazing with mods.
Whats a trigger job cost on an XD?
What makes you think that modifying it will make it more accurate?
EDIT: I'm concerned that this post comes across snarky. It isn't supposed to. What changes specifically, do you think will produce greater accuracy with your gun?

Honestly, the two biggest things I can think of are a trigger job and a match grade barrel.
just my opinion though

Springer Precision for trigger components and Storm Lake and I think Kart make tubes for them, might be a couple others I am not aware of offhand..
Give a yell if we can help.
I liked the Powder River trigger take up. Don't bother with the over travel stop.
My question is what is wrong with the current accuracy? I can keep the rounds on an 8" paper plate, off hand, at 30yds. This is with a service model (4" barrel) and I make no claims to be a good shot.
How 'bout more time at the range getting to know the handgun? [UZI]
best thing is time at the range there is no doodad you can add to your gun thats going to help you more then that ive seen guys with snub .38s outshoot guys with wilson combat built 1911s
put a thousand rounds or so down range

I've had the gun for 7 years and have put many thousand rounds through it, practice wasn't what I was getting at (I know the shooter is the biggest error:)
I mean there must be a reason for trigger jobs, barrels, springs whatever right?

No snarkiness received good sir. It's a good question and I shot a friends XD9 just like mine that had a titanium guide rod and a trigger job. It seemed to feel more accurate during faster shooting, it seemed to move less between rounds, does that make sense? And granted I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to this stuff, but he explained it to me as giving the gun a little more weight in the front end and taking some kick out of it, yes even though its just a 9mm. He shoots some competition with it, and I guess I just figured guys that shoot comp would do some things to make the gun more accurate and I was just curious what could be done to bring my plain jane XD to a comp level.

I should have clarified better, for competion purposes is what I was getting at. I shoot fine with mine as well, just wanted to know what I could do to improve it, for faster, more competitive shooting.
Last weekend at bluecore I was landing all shots on target at the back of the range which I think is like 15-20 yards. I love my xd and it does shoot well, I just wanted to raise the bar a little.
