So a guy moved in next door, him and his buddy walk around outside his house like it's the wild west packing heat in side holsters. My wife can't believe it and is throwing a fit to call the cops. I told her maybe they are cops ( we can all spot a cop and no cop would be flashing a gun while he was moving) or better yet they could be dog the bounty hunters. So my question is what is the concealed weapons law ? You can carry a gun 24/7 wherever you want?

It's called open carry in that case and I believe that's perfectly legal on private property so long as they're not brandishing or menacing anyone with their firearms.
I'd personally be happy that there were other firearm owners in the neighborhood and probably strike up a conversation with them.
They're on private property in a municipality that doesn't ban open carry. Say hi and move on.

Yep, this ^^
They aren't breaking any laws. Please do not call the cops on them. Make sure your wife doesn't either.

To put it simply... they're not doing anything wrong, they're minding their own damn business and you should too.
No offense, but people like your wife (and you if you're bothered by this) are a problem. The neighbors aren't doing anything illegal, open carry is perfectly legal (outside of Denver county), hell I always OC when I walk my dog at late night. Not to mention they're on their own land.
Be glad you have backup close by if you need it.
Sign here and here you can have the house...
seriously tell her its okay and allowed

I don't take offense to your reply. I'm good with everyone having the gun of there choice as for back up on the block I will be sure to let them know I'm here for them as I hope they will be for me . I do see my wifes point with kids playing all over and not a good showing as your moving in.
Kids playing doesn't matter. If your finger isn't on the trigger, the gun isn't going to fire.

And it's the responsibility of the parents to explain why the neighbor has a firearm and that as long as he is acting in an appropriate manner then it's perfectly ok. No reason to be alarmed.
It's this type of reaction that's kept me from OCing on my property. I don't want to deal with the wuss that lives next door and his wife freaking out because their kids might see their neighbor walking around with a holstered handgun. God forbid that my kid is in the house with me when I strap it on.

I'd gladly raise my kids in a neighborhood where the folks showed them good examples of safe, day-to-day firearms carry/practice.
As for people moving in... the only people it will deter are people that aren't gun friendly, and it will attract pro-2A folks. Not something I'd be complaining about.
If they start carrying rifles and darting around from tree to tree, yelling at the "invisible voices", then you might have cause for concern.
open carry is legal. don't bug them
if they start target practice in the residential yard, let her call the cops.

Isn't this what we are in support of here??? Yowzas.

I actually had a neighbor walking his dog approach me on a similar issue- I was walking out to my car with my AR in it's case, and since I don't have a case, my AK in hand. He walked up with his dog and said "Going shooting?" I responded "Yes I am." He saw that I had US Army plates, a 10th Mtn Sticker in the back window, and an "Afghanistan Campaign Veteran" in the window and said "Guys like you sure make this neighborhood feel 10x safer for me and my family. Thanks for your service." And then left. Most sheep won't question the sheepdog among them.

Go over and introduce myself, and welcome them to the neighborhood. Maybe see if we have common interests other than firearms. I often open carry around home, and none of my neighbors (other than the gangbanger wannabes that used to live down the street) seemed to even notice, much less object.
As far as concealed carry law goes, and state firearms law in general, maybe you should start here: CRS Title 18, article 12 (http://www.michie.com/colorado/lpext.dll/cocode/1/2e7f3/32995?f=templates&fn=document-frame.htm&2.0)

I wish more people would open carry. We all should get used to seeing 'good' people with guns. I open carry when around the house. But I half expect a patrol car to roll up my driveway someday while mowing the lawn.

I do too. Like I said in previous posts. I am huge on concealed because I am a paranoid private person (which is alliteration-not intended) that doesn't like to share what he has or let people know. But if people are comfortable with it or prefer it then I say do it

I must compliment yhou an what most people do not do - getting educated and gainaing konwledge about the situation so you do not act on your irrational fears. The one unknown that may still remain is meeting the neighbor and learning what kind of people they are. My guess is that your wife's fears would disappear. So many people say that perception is reality - that is crap. Perception is not reality, is just a perception not based in fact, therefore it cannot possibly reality until you gain facts and knowledge.
You should start a neighborhood watch and ask your neighbor to be the president.

Open carry is a great thing and not that I do it often but when I do I would rather not be hassled for it. Last year in the mountains I opened carried while unloading our luggage from the truck to the condo. Got a few dirty looks from people but a fellow shooter with an NRA sticker on his truck gave me the friendly wave and head nod while his wife gave me the stink eye.

I'd gladly trade the pot smoking hippies (with their late night lesbian dinner parties*) next door for your new open carrying neighbors.
*No, its nowhere near as cool as it sounds ... real lesbians don't look anything like the chicks in those girl on girl videos.

How do you know they are lesbians? Got any pictures to prove it? Let us decide if they are[Beer]
I would go over and say hi. They would probably notice that I was OC'ing as well and we could sit and talk guns for a while.
Is there any update on this? Has the wife come around on this?

It's funny, some of my neighbors who don't have guns have been over while i was packing for the range or have seen me loading rifles into/out of the truck and some of them say "We are coming to your house when shit goes south". So even though some freak out at the sight of a gun, i think many have a comortability factor they may not always show.
like everyone said, be happy you have gun friendly neighbors. go over say hi, compare who's gun is bigger, and maybe you guys will be best shoot buddies.
does your wife freak out when she sees a cop carrying a sidearm or a rifle?

Thanks for that Rondog... I can always count on one of you guys posting something that will sucker punch me right in the forehead and cause me to either choke on my morning coffee or violently spray it from my mouth onto the monitor. Good times. [Beer]

I would have to agree... or maybe that's because I turned my x into one... [LOL]
I would be afraid of what you would do with me in the neighborhood...

Now that's just wrong. Byte I'm very concerned about you. Just to clarify, you won't be camping out at the range day correct?
