I would have thought hatcheting off a leg would be more traumatic then a c-section, with more blood loss but whatever. Hell, I can't even make a 100yard shot on a running target with no rear sight, so what the hell do I know.

T-Dog isn't in the comics. You're probably thinking of Tyreese.

As for the picture, I'm assuming photoshop.

I appreciate why you wouldn’t show a young kid shooting his own mother in the head. But as you didn’t, it does raise the question of whether Lori really is dead, dead, dead — in every sense of the word.

[Laughs] I think we’ve seen enough that we know Carl would not miss from that range.

It is a reasonable question to ask, though.

Yeah. I think the bad version of this show would definitely have a half-alive, half-zombie Lori living in the prison doing all sorts of nefarious things in the background. But, no, that poor child did shoot his mother and, yeah, we’re going to be dealing with that.

having a child cut from your abdomen with a dull pocket knife is a bit more traumatic to the core organs.

I called it as soon as I saw the hammer (those who have read the comics know), I got excited and said "Tyreese has finally arrived!" I wonder if they'll show the gym scene...
I don't think Daryl and Merle die, especially with the sneak peek of the 2nd part of the season in Feb that they showed. Glen says "What the hell is he doing here" or something like that, and it has to be that Merle makes an appearance with his brothers, since it's obvious his loyalties are no longer with the Governor after being sold out. Can't wait, but Feb is so far away! :(

CrufflerSteve

I agree that Feb is too far away. I almost gave up on the show last season but it has really come back big. By now the zombies are scenery. The survivors and their conflicts are the interesting parts.

I've always wondered this... South Park takes 6 days to set up each episode (8-10 weeks for most other animated shows), and they take breaks like they're on a union clock. This season has been completed with filming for months now, and yet they're doing a mid-season break. It's like they can't show these shows during the holidays or something. It's silly, hell, PigMan took two months off between seasons, why can't TWD do this?

It's "Walking Dead" time again. One thing that never made sense to me was Season One, last episode. Just ended on AMC. They're at the CDC, surrounded by dead soldiers, tanks, etc. Not an AR to be seen on the ground and obviously they don't pick up any in an area where there should be dozens on the ground.

Dang, that's sad to hear. I've also been pestered by every single friend to watch this damn thing and how awesome it is. So I downloaded the first two seasons. I've only watched the first episode. I did like how it took a more "human drama" approach in this one, rather than the usual fast-moving all-action approach. Concentrating on the two men's difficulty in "executing" their wives and putting them out of their misery. I thought it covered that pretty well.

I'll report back after watching a few more episodes. Maybe it won't appeal to those folks who prefer the zombie movies where it's all videogame action, dunno...

Sheet Man!?

I think it's a good series. I just came into this season on air, and requested the first two seasons for x-mas (which I got and watched over NYE weekend) So, I'm all caught up on stuff from the beginning. I didn't understand the mid season break (WTF?) but now that we're back into it, I'm happy for Sunday nights.

Sure there are times when the show ends and I think to myself... "that sucked" or "why didn't blah blah" happen. I think script writers do that shit on purpose.

Anyways, I think Rick is going to get his shit together and start leading again. I don't like the ghost crap with Lori, but maybe it wont last too much longer. I don't know why Andrea didn't kill the Governor, but I know that asshat is gonna get his soon. Curious to see how Merle is gonna play out with the group, and Darrel is gaining some separation from his a-hole brother a bit. Tyrese and his small group will have some influence for sure, I wonder if Woodbury ends up taken over by Ricks group.

I know the series was born from a comic book series, but from some research I've learned that the story lines don't match up, so, the comic book is no tell of how the tv series is going to play, as far as I can see.

Well the show isn't following the comics. In the comics Rick is shown around Woodbury with Michionne and The Asian kid. Rich gets his hand cut off and Michionne is raped by the governor. But if they do turn it's when the black guy sees what the governor is up to.

Where does ANOTHER baby fit into all this? I still don't think they could ever make clear who "little ass kicker's" dad really is. I don't think it's Ricks kid at all, Shanes.

Tyrese is the leader of the mostly black group, but those two crackers (shits cool, I'm a cracker) hanging with them give me a creepy vibe, remember they were spouting off about how easy it would be to take over the prison from an old man, a kid, and some women.

I don't think so. It's already played out in the story plot with "dumb bitch". She didn't kill him because she is attracted to really F'ed up men with psychotic tendencies. She will wait till the very last moment to take him out. It's good for the show, make a good season ending, and her character 'just want's to be loved....'

Well, I'm glad that Michone seems to have opened up a little and looks like she'll be part of the group now. Sucks that Morgan went way off the deep end, thing is though, they left him there with tons of supplies and he or his stolen stash could turn up later and be a problem for the group. They should have taken much more from Morgans stash than they did.

Bad day to be a hitch kiker...wonder what was in his backpack?

It was kind of interesting that the whole episode was just about this little trip....who knows what was happening either at Woodbury or the Prison while all this was going on.

Merle a plant? I'm not thinking so.

I see him either conforming with Darryl and the group, or leaving out on his own. Remember he was surprised to find out that his dad had beaten Darryl as badly too. I think that was a point to remember about Merle's character. That and now he knows that Darryl came back to look for him on the roof, but he had already cut his hand off. I think he realizes that he doesn't need to be an asshole anymore and there is still something good about living in the world they have now.

I agree, but if they DID slaughter them coming out of the door (like I was hoping), then the Governor would until have been able to do it later. Personally, I thought they should have just stayed in Woodbury until the Governor's return, and then just pop him there while his guard was down. They knew he killed most of his troops. They should have brought the prison people to Woodbury as well.

Glad they left the Governor thing open and glad they got rid of Andrea. She has been annoying ever since her sister died in Season 1 (though the silhouettes were quite nice). Perhaps they'll replace her sex scenes with those of that Woodbury woman, Karen. Personally I find her to be more appealing anyway. Does anyone see her being Rick's new lust interest in Season 3?

This is one of the things that really bugs me about this show. They can run around getting head shots on zombies all day long but can't hit a human standing still in the middle of a clearing.

Yep....20 people running out in the open 50yrds away and NOT ONE person gets hit with atleast 2 people spraying FA fire on them...... Yeah right...

That's because they were out gunned and out numbered. AND if they did drop more it may or may not have played as good later on when the .guv [morrisey] started shooting them, thus allowing 1 of woodbury's citizen militia to survive / confirm to Tyrese [cudy from the wire] they were on the wrong side.

I missed that bit. I was thinking she was going to try shtoinking Karl when he hit puberty. Either way, I agree, Rick needs some trim. And so does Daryl for that matter. Those boys need to start tapping the single asses before they clog all of the drains in the prison.

The prison is more secure to house that many people with that nut job and is two gay lovers running around. I would've however left Meshone in Woodbury to go all ninja on the gov when he returned.

I could have fixed that whole problem with one dedicated guy and a bolt action rifle a long time ago.

I do agree that Carl is heading down the path that Shane was blazing for him, hopefully not to the same end. Which brings up the great moral issue. The object of living is not living alone, there is no point in surviving if you have to kill everything you stand for to do it. Shane was far to absolute, and he feared his own and his friends death far too much. I'm all for staying alive but at what price? Yes, logic would dictate you do whatever it takes to survive, but logic alone doesn't drive man to carry out his actions. The Gov and Shane lost sight of that, became strictly about living or dying.

I read this and then watched the episode Monday night with the daughter and was paying attention waiting for that moment. (I also noticed Daryl running around with his AR's sights folded down.) But as far as the revolver ejecting brass, to me it didn't sound like brass hitting the floor. The blonde shot herself while slumped over sitting on the floor and it was clearly the Python hitting the floor, not hard, but I have to say they did a good job. To me it wasn't the brass hitting and 'ringing' or pinging off a concrete floor, it was more solid and dull, so I say she fired and then (blasphemy) the Python hit the floor. Listen to it again and let me know what you think.

Damn, I live a pathetically boring life to watch and then comment on stuff like this... and yeah, the damn kid Carl did the right thing, the other kid didn't drop the weapon fast enough.

Yep that's all I could think of too was that sweet revolver clattering across the concrete floor. If Carl had shot the guy and he was holding the shotgun by the barrel or something it would've been a problem but I think he still had his hand in the trigger guard and was slowly swinging the barrel towards Carl Id have shot the guy too. Hershel should Have manned up and shot for him. That way Carl wouldn't have to deal with killing the kid.

I'll try and find it online and watch that part again (no DVR so I can't do it now). However, I can concede that I could be wrong since I have selective hearing (at least my wife says I do :D ).

I don't know. I am on the fence about Carls shot. Possibly because I think that he needs the shit slapped out of him just about every episode; I would not let my kid act like that and get away with it zombie apocalypse or not. I think that he is on a warpath with destruction, but what really gets me is that his dad and everyone else are so complacent with his acting out as a smart mouthed little kid. When he stole the gun from Darrel I would have lost my mind and handled that whole responsibilities / being held accountable for one's actions with a swift ass kicking. Maybe that is just me.

Then when the danger appears at a crossroad, don't stay on the road where you have clear line of sight and easy terrain, run your happy asses off into to woods. But if they didn't do that, then the next chapter couldn't unfold.

At the old folks home: melee a few of them that are the noisy ones to keep others away. When you leave, leave the door open so they leave the damn place and there's less of them if you need to go back.

Most places, that would hold true. But that building should have been a mother lode of medicine, medical equipment, etc. He was so lethargic about everything. He bothered to kill the one in the tub at the house (maybe for the benefit of the sisters) but didn't kill granny in the wheelchair even though he had to squeeze by her and just closed the door on the other.

There's a lot of different ways to deal with the situations and it's not like it's a real world scenario where you can try it differently to see the result. Just how I would deal with certain scenarios.

I am of the mind that he finished off the bathroom guy out of respect (disabled vet or public servant, from pic of him in wheelchair).
That whole town/locale had to be either VERY isolated, or very lucky, given the condition of the apartments, and the non-looted appearance of the food supply truck and nursing home (am I alone on that thought?).
To all of you complaining about decisions, scenarios and such...I'd say the writers are doing their jobs fairly well to keep you so engaged, and committing that much conscious thought. I guess you're paying attention, and not just being spoon-fed "zombietainment".

I write screen plays. I'm aware of arcs. I just don't think it works with this show.

If you merged the 2 stories, people might have gained a better feeling for governor because it seems like he is caring more. And then have hatred for carol, etc. then it merges. Jumping back and forth in time with a show that should be continuous will make people stop watching.

They did a big GAP with the first episode of this season. Gardner Rick?...not leading, Darrel leading excursions, new people, etc. I didn't like the season opener, but it is what it is.

At the beginning of the episode, Martinez and his buddy ditch the Gov...then he has a multi month beard and stumbling around til he finds this town with a little girl in the window...reminds him of Penny. That is why he went up in the apartment building. He gets a little softened up by the child and starts to help this family he ran into. Interesting twist to end up looking at Martinez again...how does this play out? The new kinder, gentler Gov isn't Brian, but the notorious Killing Mayor of psychoville.

They write and leave lots of room for interpretation...... they break the seasons in half and make us wait 3 months to pick it back up again, and I'm still waiting for the show to pick back up every time they do it. It's the number one series for a reason, I'm thinking.

Boring as hell! Writing off too many characters I like and the new ones suck. The whimp alcoholic and the African-American dude with the stocking cap are the worst. Giving up on the show. Didn't watch last night. Screw it. Rather read anyway or do a family game night.

Yup the endings don't even get me excited for next episode anymore.

I agree at face value because Darryl has always been portrayed as a better survivalist/outdoorsman, but don't forget Michonne lived off the land by herself for a very long time in earlier seasons. She's resourceful and observant if nothing else. I was disappointed we didn't see most of the characters in this first episode this season, so we really don't know who all made it through the prison attack at the end of last season. Oh, and Carl is a little jackass. I would have laughed if he had been bitten in the calf. That is all.

Love Michael Cudlitz (or however he spells it) The guy was AWESOME in Band of Brothers and he played the role really well in SouthLand. That was a great show but I think NBC just didnt want to pay for a top quality program when they could just throw a few bucks at some desperate morons to make a reality show which they did. TNT jumped on it but again, I think the budget to make a good series just costs more than what networks are willing to pay for it. I too was pissed about the end of Southland and I really feel like the producers and folks who make the show tried to set it up so that it made it difficult to cancel the series, thus the reason why the end of the series was not good. I am sure they wanted to keep writing the story. Too bad no one else picked up Southland, I loved it!

Can't wait to see where Cudlitz takes this new character on Walking Dead... I feel like they were running a risk of the show going stale but for me this really keeps it fresh!
