I have no sources to point ya too

but illegal as hell since a booby trap is indiscriminate.

could be a cop, a little kid or a robber that gets it....

mostly wondering about fences and the concealment of barbed wire or something to keep people out of yards . it was a conversation i was having with someone who is having troubles with thieves in his yard .
so i was thinking a little wire might put an end to his woes . but if its against the law then ill keep pressuring him to get a dog already .

18-12-106. Prohibited use of weapons. (http://www.michie.com/colorado/lpext.dll?f=FifLink&t=document-frame.htm&l=query&iid=51102ea2.db91b27.0.0&q=%5BGroup%20%2718-12-106%27%5D)

(1) A person commits a class 2 misdemeanor if:
(a) He knowingly and unlawfully aims a firearm at another person; or
(b) Recklessly or with criminal negligence he discharges a firearm or shoots a bow and arrow; or
(c) He knowingly sets a loaded gun, trap, or device designed to cause an explosion upon being tripped or approached, and leaves it unattended by a competent person immediately present

That rules out any type of explosive device or firearm. I'll have to do some additional digging, but I'm sure that deadfalls, punji pits, and the like are also no-nos.

Its a BIG NO NO. This happened back in the 90's, a guy booby traps his house or shed and killed a kid. He went to jail for a long time.

Don't see a problem with barbed wire. If he's going to do that, might as well just use razor wire though.

Topping a security fence with barbwire or razor wire is OK, (in plain sight) but hiding it/disguising it may get you into trouble.

Edit: Have him check his local city codes first, so he won't be violating any local ordinances.

Maybe something non-lethal would be OK? Like something that would pop out and hit them in the crotch if they tried to climb the fence. [Coffee]

Its called Pre-Metitaded...pretty sure its murder. I have read about quite a few occasions.

One of them was the 'ol Shotgun above the door with a string around the trigger.

Not really worth it if you ask me, I would invest in a good secuirty cameras

Get a good livestock fence charger, and run wire. More effective than barbed wire, legal in virtually every jurisdiction, and MUCH better youtube videos from the cameras... [LOL]

ok look im not talking about murder , things that go bang , or even putting people in the hospital . we are talking about a little barbed wire and a way to conceal it , mostly so one does not have to feel like they live in prison .

me i have dogs so i could care less , ill giggle at the dumb ass that tries to get in my yard .

Here, hold my hand. It wont hurt..... I spent my time on a farm growing up. [Coffee] Much depends on where ya live. I do live in the county but in an older subdivision. I even once woke up to the sound of a horse in the neighbors yard. Others have Chickens,Geese and whatnot.

I do think razor wire on top of a fence might bring a little publicity to ones self.

A moat, with big sharks with friggen lasers on their heads!

I would say a secondary fence a foot behind the first one with a lot of electricity running through it would be good.

electric fence. I have a small unit I used to keep a neighbors dog out of my yard for a summer. Worked well, cheap. Want to borrow it let me know, sure I still have all the pieces.

A lot of folks around here have stone fences about 5-6 ft high... the top is lined with broken glass. It helps a little. Just a thought.

Years ago I was a drummer and after I'd leave for work at night someone would sneak into my yard and steal veggies from my garden.
I took a 1x6 pine board--cut in 3 ft lengths and pounded a bunch of long thin nails thru them. Then I buried them between the rows so the board was not visible. The next day one of the boards was disturbed--no one ever messed with my garden again.

Thats a really good idea. Good for you man. I have a green thumb also and I bust my ASS on my lawn and flower beds. I would be livid if I put all that work into a garden and someone was stealing stuff.

Now if someone came to me and asked, I would be MORE than happy to give away alot....but thieves, I HATE thieves
