Wow, I can't believe ANYONE still cites Kellermann (hell, even Kellermann himself doesn't).
I am no 1.8% dumber than I was before reading that.... thanks for that (now I'm on the same level as Irving! [LOL])
I feel bad for people who believe that, they're the same people who want to undermine the constitution and be rid of that pesky 2nd Amendment.

Not even gonna read past the first couple of sentences to know that is complete crap. RIDICULOUS!

HAHAHAHA. What absolute bs. Self defense is your responsibility. The 80 year old woman down the street who is in the neighborhood watch won't do **** when some fag enters your house. BTW last night mother F&$^er was in my shed. I think he might come back tonight it's been going on a lot lately.

Article also fails to mention how many times gun owners have prevented the crime from happening. It only quoted defensive gun usage. There are plenty more stories, both reported and not, of gunowners stopping crimes/violence without the actual shooting!
Gun owner
or
Victim

Gun owner-> not always obligated to protect potential victims... they should remember that one!

The Kellermann study has three major flaws.
1) It included suicides (in effing King County Washington ... the suicide capital of the US).
2) It required you to KILL an intruder in order to count as a "self defensive use".
3) It didn't differentiate between types of owners (a gang banger with a stolen glock is counted equally with an Orthodontist that collects 5 figure Italian shotguns).
So the original finding was that a gun kept in the home is 43 times more likely to kill a family member or acquaintance* than to kill an intruder. (*note that "acquaintance" as used here simply meant that the shooter and shootee knew each other before the shooting ... so a pimp shooting his ho or a drug dealer shooting a delinquent customer is the same thing as an innocent child finding a gun and accidentally shooting one of their siblings).
After Kellermann was called on the carpet for his bogus study even he revised the numbers down to 2.5 to 1 (so I have no idea where this idiot got the 22 to 1 figure). Even at 2.5 to 1 his study is flawed (all he did is removed the suicides ... all the other flaws still exist).
Wow, good thing I don't own just "A" gun, I feel much safer bristling with weapons.
96.7% of statistics are made up on the spot. ( I just made that up)
Statistics don't lie, but liars often use statistics.
These are the tactics of the gun grabbers. The numbers SOUND authentic, as well as being sensational, so people tend to believe them and repeat them as if they were true.
Guns don't kill people! People kill people. Blaming a gun for someone being killed is like blaming the US Mint for the government spending money poorly.

i see you are near Boulder. I am currently in Superior, what range do you go to?
I would like to see how this person feels about having a gun in his or her house after a robber or rapist/murderer breaks into their house and takes everything they want, or do something far worse. And if they live through it realize it could have all been prevented if the home owner would have had a gun.

First point is BE AWARE!!! Then run into the house. If you follow those rules you will be alright!!
Just BE AWARE people, just be aware.
Thanks Jordan, you made me stupider.
Does anyone have any fake alarm signs and motion lights and window magnets you can trade me for all my guns so I can be safe? I dont want my 4 year old picking the lock and guessing the combination on my climate controlled safe and getting into my guns. I feel I will be much more safe with the above mentioned items do to it being such a new idea criminals have not caught onto it yet. I have a nother new idea if you leave your TV and LIGHTS on when you are gone criminals will think you are still home.

Like that cute girl with the cardboard sign, we won't leave our various ammo purchasing stores until the .gov subsidizes our ammo!
Come on, fellas, we've got some sittin' to do!

Given the site's new stance on swearing, I'm gonna go with "Jack-hole." More "facts" and "statistics" twisted to fit the case...

What's your deal?
After reading that article I have decided to turn over all my firearms so they can be destroyed.

You didn't have an smilies, so I wasn't sure. Plus, I saw it the same day as I saw your thread about your frustration with math, so I wasn't sure if you were taking it out on me or not. Thanks for the explanation. [Beer]
