Does this e-mail on my car sale pass your sniff check for BS?

Hello,

It sounds nice to know that it is still available. I have gone through the ad and I am satisfied with it. I am okay with the asking price and would love to go ahead with the deal right away. I am contacting you via email because I am hearing impaired otherwise I would have called you.Coming to your residence for inspection won't be possible,so you have to assure me that it is in the condition described. Please do me a favor by considering the item sold to me and if possible withdraw the posting from Craigslist immediately so that I can be rest assured that it is all mine . I don't mind adding an extra $20.00 for you just to take down the posting.

Moreover, I'm very busy with my job and I'm out of town right now on a geophysical investigations in the mountains until July 15, so I will be paying you online via my PayPal account which is attached to my bank account because it is the only form of payment that I have access to right now and also good for online purchases. If you are interested in selling it please provide me your PAYPAL EMAIL ACCOUNT, ADDRESS FOR PICKUP AND PHONE # so I can initiate the deal through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, visit www.paypal.com to set up one.

Furthermore, you will not be responsible for the shipping as my mover will come over for the pick up as soon as I make the payment and you have received the confirmation of Payment from PayPal.

If you need to reach me send me an email or text message 786-REDACTED. I drive in range every 3hours to check correspondence and respond at that time. I will wait your answer (if you are interested to sell) very soon.

Kind regards

Mary REDACTED

Red flags.

I would call her, talk for a while to feel it out. Then if she is serious, I would take the $20 to hold it, unless you need to sell it soon. Then when she gets back into town have her meet you and take continue the transaction. No PayPal.

There is NO reason to ship a regular car. Is the car you're selling a collector's item?

This sounds like BS to me.

SCAM! You can send an invoice through PayPal, even if the other person doesn't have a PayPal account, no need to ask for YOUR Paypal info! Run away, perhaps find the right authority to report it to (Paypal?). If you give her the info she wants, she's got everything to hack your Paypal account.

They will email you a fake PayPal receipt and expect you to be ignorant and not actually check your PayPal account. A former friend of mine had his Xbox packed up, labeled and ready to ship to Africa before I showed up and told him to double check.

Funny you would say that I took a Police report the other day of a theft. The lady got an email just like and gave the guy her account info. He emptied her account and she wanted to report the theft. [ROFL3]

Play it safe and send everything as requested, and include your ssn, and mothers maiden name with bank account numbers.
Just to make sure they are interested. [Swim]

Another scam i have recieved is as follows.

"I am interested in your item, do you still have it?"

This is a ploy to get your email address. once someone has emailed through craigslist if you respond it goes from your email to theirs.

This letter has been going around for a few weeks now to all kinds of ads.

If they do not mention the specific item I am selling in the text of the message, I never respond. If it says "your item" or "the vehicle you have for sale" it is definitely a scam.

I always say hello in emails. 1. It is the polite thing to do. 2. If I come across as a nicer person than someone else interested in something I want to buy, there's a chance (albeit maybe slight) I will get it over the other person because of that. 3. I hate receiving emails that are written like a text message, you have a keyboard in front of you, use it properly. If I get an email that looks like it was written by some wanna-be-gangsta idiot, I don't even respond.

Word.
I got the same email about a motorcycle I was selling for a friend and he wanted to do the paypal route. The difference was he was buying it for his son and wanted it shipped. And as long as I assured him it worked properly he would take it. I said clearly in the ad that it didn't run and needed some small things to get it to run.
What a dummy.
I wrote back asking him if he was moving from a check scam to a paypal scam. And warned that it would be a lot harder to send fake checks through paypal since they usually need actual money first.
Pass on deals that are to hard to do anyway. Someone should meet you and have cash in hand.
