Hmm, that's the first time I've heard it credited to the NRA. I've heard it was because the US, Russia and China asked for more time, which put it over the deadline.

Yah, I'm not sold on the NRA. Part of it but it is good to get an update on the treaty thing.

The NRA has had articles about it in their publications and newsletters in the mail for over a year. I even signed a petition one of my neighbors was walking around with, and that was last spring. The talk of the UN arms treaty is not new. NRA even got to speak at the UN about it.

Glad it is delayed at least. US has tougher rules for arms export and import anyway.

Everyone on this site should be an NRA member. There is no reason not to be. Just for the magazine and gun insurance it provides should be more than enough of a reason to spend the $25-30 a year. What matters is numbers. When the NRA shows up and says 4 million people want it done this way, the words are heard. When you send an email by yourself to Udall or obama, he hits the spam button.

A couple months ago the NRA sent me an issue of American Rifleman full of bullshit partisan politics shit and fear mongering. I called them up and asked them to close out my membership at that point.

I'm sick of the bullshit they spew, and their blatant partisanship.

feel your funds are better off in bronieland?

Just don't read the fear mongering articles...about 5 per magazine and they are the exact same in american rifleman and american hunter and there are some pretty good reviews. I just finished up July issues and the history bit of the ar15 which was excellent. plus who doesn't like to read the armed citizen!

Let him keep his stupid ponies and his opinion.
I'm a member of the NRA not a grown man who has fetish for ponies.
No need to shit on people, that's how it feels.

I hate to say it but I'm with Ridge on this one... Send us money or you're going to lose your freedom... WHAT!? Granted, just about everyone is begging for your money these days and the NRA does do some good, but they are relentless.

Simple: Add to SPAM Folder or say No Thank you.

You Don't HAVE to give.
Does anyone complain up a storm when every damn store hits you up for a dollar for cancer or another cause?
I say no thank and go on with my life.

What was the true point of this thread again?

Opinions dully noted.
Move on Gents.
Don't like the NRA, got it. I don't like Burger King but Im not in a rage over it and trying to convince other why they should dislike them. Don't like em, no angry conspiracies about them so I don't go there.

You can always donate to Dudley! I would go broke every time he hit me up for cash!

To those who send a check to the NRA and never bother to contact their reps: Your worthless. Far better to have someone not supporting the NRA write and call their reps every time an issue comes up, then to have a NRA ball-cap wearing minion write his check and walk away.

The NRA is painfully easy to ignore, and will compromise your rights away, as they are paid to make gun control an issue. That's what happens when an organization funded by millions upon millions is asked to work itself out of a job. Funny how it never happens, right?

A good quarter of a million individuals, is not, however, easy to ignore. It's worked on all sorts of bills including some of the latest cyber bills. A quarter million people contacted their reps, and magically 60 senators changed side overnight.

The NRA couldn't accomplish that even in its own wet dream.

Not saying it doesn't serve a purpose, but don't hail it as the saving grace of firearm ownership, because its not, and its even quite detrimental at times.

yes & no and big YES!

NRA is not perfect, but they have a strong voice when they are needed. I am a member , been a member since I was was but a teen(dont ask how long ago that was); however, my tough money warrants me to say NO for contribution most of the time. in fact I haven't donated in the last decade other than Midway's NRA roundup on check out.

The most important is write and email senators and representatives when issues come up and even hit every poll when up. If every firearm owner in the country did the same they can not ignore us, but that is a dream.
