So I am putting together the paper work to get my AR pistol into a SBR. I have two question and was wondering if someone could help me out.
How accurate does the OAL need to be? +/-1/2"?
On the OAL the form 1 states to use the length with the stock extended. This seems counter intuitive since this is an SBR. Can someone elaborate on this for me? I feel I should put the shortest possible length (the stock collapsed) to avoid any problems. i.e.
BTW I have a 7.5” upper on my pistol.
Thanks

Yes. You can always make temporary (longer) changes to it; can't go shorter.

Mine says
Length
Of barrel 7"
Overall 27"
I just looked at dates of approval and it's been 6 years since my last NFA stamp. Good thing i did 2 this year, need to make up for lost time.

Ideally, it would be exact, but ATF has not defined an acceptable range. Do your best.

Not true. You can do anything you wanna do. SBR is SBR, only permanent changes need to be transmitted to ATF, and only when you're trying to actually TRANSFER it, in a permanently-changed configuration.

My next question is this. On my lower the word "Multi" Appears as part of the model name on the lower. Will the ATF get confused on this.
I only plan on shooting .223 thru it.
If someone knows better than me, chime in, please. This is my understanding, but I haven't gotten conformation yet.
You can't submit form 1 paperwork for "Multi" you must "declare" a caliber, and that caliber must appear somewhere on the firearm. In many cases the caliber stamping on the barrel you're using as your "permanent" setup (what you're specifying as caliber, barrel length and overall length on your form 1) is sufficient (that's where I'm bit hazy -- I do not believe the caliber has appear on the receiver along with your name/trust name and city/state -- can anyone confirm?).
However, the barrel's caliber stamping must be completely unobstructed from view -- which means that if the caliber stamping is towards the chamber it'll be covered by the barrel shroud and therefore MUST be engraved somewhere else. If the stamping is towards the muzzle, not underneath the shroud, you're fine.

My factory receiver says 223-5.56
on the F4 is says .223 only.
These questions can be given firm answers by contacting the NFA branch of the ATF, hopefully.
