Has anyone had much experience with BVAC Ammo. I have done some reading online and a lot of people say it burns a little dirty. I am not too worried about that though since I use FrogLube now to clean all my firearms. Looks like a distributor for this ammo is in Littleton and they are at every CO gun show. Any Intel on the ammo good or bad would be appreciated.

It's the latest buzz in the gun maintenance world, f it works for you buy it.
I'm an old #9 user, followed up with a little 5w-20 synthetic oil for lube.
Each to their own.
BVAC another ammo dealer. Good stuff.

I had a half case of BVAC 5.56 a couple years ago I bought at Tanner. Kept the cardboard box in case the stuff ever blew up or anything, but never had an issue. Every round fired normally and was at least as accurate as I was.

What makes it any diffrent than Hoppes 9 etc?? Any real backing to it being a better product and something I should look into? The price is a bit much but then again proceeds go to worthy causes.

You're asking the wrong guy, i still have some small tins of CLP laying around.

I looked into them a little while back as a source for training ammo. I found a lot of reports of their ammo causing problems (squib loads, popped primers, bullets that are unstable in flight, improperly labeled ammunition, rounds loaded with the wrong bullets, etc.). There were also a lot of comments about extremely poor customer service and questionable ethics. All this to say, I chose to avoid their product.

A search on Lightfighter.net, M4Carbine.net, AR15.com and the CMP forums can provide more info.

Regarding lube - If you're a guy who goes to the range and shoots 1-200 rounds in an afternoon, you won't see much difference buying something like Froglube (or my preference, Slip2000) over something cheaper. Where those products shine is when you're running a gun hard. Add a can and you'll really see a difference. They last a lot longer before burning off than CLP or similar.

I shoot it though my glock, so of course it works perfectly :)

They say that it's dirtier than other ammo but I've never noticed anything different, if you own something a bit more expensive or pretty than maybe you would notice something.

Used up about 1000 rounds of BVAC 9mm plinking ammo and JHP, both reman and new stuff. Doesn't seem to be dirty...never had an FTF with it either.
I would put it up there with federal, and above PMC.

Use it in a G17 and an M&P9

FrogLube is a CLP, lubricate, and rust prevention.
Well the first thing that makes it better is it is non-toxic. I do not have to set up a hazmat station anymore in the house while cleaning. It cuts my cleaning time down in half due to how well it works. I just apply it with a small brush on all surfaces or use my finger to apply and then wipe it right off with a rag. All the junk in your firearm just wipes off in one swipe.
It doesn’t attract dirt, become sticky or hinder the use of the weapon. No jams, no rust.
Everyone that buys it from me absolutely loves it. I will never put anything else on any of my firearms ever again and I am an old school Jarhead that thought I would use CLP for the rest of my life. That should say a lot and most of you other Marines know what I am talking about!

I agree with you when talking about performance. But it cleans your weapon so much better too. Just the fact that it works and is non-toxic sold me.

I shot some BVAC in .40 cal, I used it in my Sig and it fires dirty so I went back to my old brand of ammo.

The BVAC Ammo from the Ammo Kan at the local shows. I have run about 2000 - 3000 rounds of 9mm FMJ. The stuff is dirty and decided I did not care for the vendor's practices of not pricing tell after he walks the show.

I have used 9mm, .45, and .357. Both once fired and new brass. Never had any issues with it through many thousands of rounds. Didn't find it any dirtier than other cheap brands like Remington UMC, and was cleaner than the Federal Champion bulk packs.

The current owner bought out the distributorship 3 years ago. He used to be based in Aurora, and I used to buy tons of them directly from his garage/back of his rig. Back then, the price of the ammo was sky high and his price was the best I could find. The ammo are ok, 1 or 2 out of 100 failed.. about the same rate as freedom ammunition. They are mostly reloads unless you ask for new manufactured. They are not dirtier than most bulk ammo.

Bitterroot Valley Ammo? (http://www.bvac-ammo.com/) I've used some a few years ago, before I started reloading (again) and it wasn't too bad. I think it was a bit better than Ultramax, as far as reman ammo goes. Haven't used any lately though, there are both good & bad reviews out there.

Thank you everyone for replying. From what I have read it seems ok for cheaper ammo. I think I will start stocking and see how it goes for a while that is if I can get some good prices.

I've encountered threads espousing both pro-n-con on various boards, M4C recently had a critical thread re: accuracy (or lack thereof) and 1911forum has some threads archived if you care to read more. I was unfamiliar as well and picked-up a couple of boxes of their JHPs earlier this year to check it out.** Accuracy at 10, 15 and 20 yards was fine, no dirtier than anything else in my experience and I'd have no issues running it again for target-use / JHP feed testing.

** Bitteroot Valley 45 ACP 230 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point branded XD X-treme Defense, 1152-11 KS/KS, tested in 2 weapons, an HK45C and a 1911 Govt.

I've gone through probably 400 rounds of the 1000 I bought from them, 9mm fmj. No issues with any of the rounds, and it was significantly cheaper than anything else at the time, even including shipping. Very happy with it, and I'll buy more when the supply gets a little lower.

I went through 800 rounds of cowboy loads with my 44 and had no problems. Reloading my own now.

I picked up 100 rounds of .40 S&W from the Loveland gun show (Ammo Kan table) a few weeks ago for really cheap. I put all 100 rounds through my M&P 40c with no issues. Seems pretty good for plinking ammo.
