Just wanted to hear your guys and gals views on the Ruger P series. I went out shooting today and brought my Glocks and my Ruger P95. I got the Ruger on a trade and forgot all about it until today lol. I absolutely fell in love with this big ol gun. I know they are not the prettiest, or the lightest around, but for the price I say they are the best " on a budget " handgun you can get. I used to have a P89 and never had a problem with it either. Just wondering what you guys think of them? Any good memories with one? [Beer]

Basically what you said. Bomb proof tank that is heavy and ugly. I think they are heavier than they are ugly though.

Like my ex they will eat anything you put in em. When i see one posted for sale i am confused why some board members looking for an under $300 pistol, don't jump on them.

Gun snobs. Obviously never shot one. Hell, I have 3, had many more over the years.

They are usually part of the 1911 elite crowd, where if it isn't a 1911 in 45acp they don't want it.

I agree, after going though Ruger armor school and seeing the LE pistol testing that Ruger does I can honestly say that 99.999% of malfunctions in a P-85, 89, 90, 91, 94 are due to lack of cleaning on the part of the gun owner. Most of these malfunctions occur after 2000 rounds fired without cleaning. As a defensive weapon it it hard to beat for reliability.

I have no experience with the Ruger polymer guns.

Heavy, crappy trigger pull.

Dead nuts reliable and built like a tank to last for the ages.

had a p85--the SA trigger pull was long, indeed. but that was my only complaint. mine was stolen and i've never replaced it

Decent guns, but don't fit my hand well.

While I love Ruger revolvers, and have owned more than a half dozen or more of 'em, I do not care for the P series semi-auto pistols. Mostly subjective, and I've not fired them in some years, but I've never been able to get them to shoot accurately. And I'm a decent pistol shot all told, shoot a lot of semi-auto pistols accurately but not with Ruger semi-auto centerfires.

My P-85 surprised me with how accurate it is, especially since it has been my toolbox gun, truck gun, forgotten gun, and now my gunbag range gun. It more or less gets ignored until I remember it, then I shoot the crap out of it, clean it, and forget about it again. Works flawlessly.

My P85 was the first handgun I ever purchased. I haven't shot it in years, but I won't get rid of it. I also had a P90, and sold it...now I wish I hadn't.

I have a KP95dc and it was NIB until a year ago. bought in 96 and now has 120 rds through it. So far it has proven to be a very good shooter. [Flower]

Solid guns! They will run crap amunition that will choke a glock or cz-75. That being said a glock is a far better weapon. My favorite is the DAO models. a 15 shot revolver.

Bomb proof, if you cram a WMD(maybe a 10mm stuffed into a 9mm gun) into it I think it could fire it, and be fine

LOL, I am really loving these P series. Think my next purchase will be a RIA , than back to some more P series! I have always loved my Glocks, but lately have been getting tire of them.....

As others have said, definitely built like a tank!! I have a P97DC that I purchased brand new about 14 years ago. I've fed just about everything through it without a hiccup. I will never get rid of it!!

I will echo the sentiment about these firearms. have a P89dc. Built like a tank, not the prettiest but goes boom every time no matter what I feed her. Locked her up pretty bad once cuz I had the recoil spring on backwards (durrrrr!!!!) but otherwise have NEVER had a problem with it. Trigger could be better but for the money it's a reliable shooter and makes for a great range or bed side gun

I think they are excellent autos, just not svelt looking and thus shunned by certain segments of the population.

I think the P95 series are excellent.
