View Full Version : minor rant about the trading post..

Is it just me or does anyone else find that its very interesting that someone (typically a newer member not unlike myself) will buy an upper for $250 or so, a lower for $200 or so, throw in a bcg for $180, and the next thing you know they post it as a complete rifle in the trading post for $800 or more? Its fairly comical but a tick insulting at the same time, pretty blatantly assuming members cannot do math.

I guess this is more of an observation than rant...

I think he is saying they make a complete gun from the parts and then resell for more than the sum of the parts,

Darn those damn people for charging for their time and labor.

Not everyone has the time, tools, know how or the desire to build something so they pet to pay for the convenience of buying something complete.

You can buy every single piece to build your own car too, but are you gonna do that??

Simple fix, if you dont like someones price, move on. The market will dictate if a price is fair or not.

Here's a tip i use. Don't buy it if you don't like it.

not into capitalism? "insulted" by someone else's actions in the marketplace where you perceive they may be making a potential profit?

Forced purchases at exorbitant rates don't seem to happen on a trade forum, usually that is left to health insurance.

while I think I understand the nature of your post, I can't sit idle while seemingly innocent statements creep into "our" vocabulary. [Beer]

This one time, I saw an item in the trading post that was priced higher than I was willing to pay. So, like, I just decided NOT to buy it.

I know. It was really empowering knowing I could make that sort of huge decision for myself. I might try it again some time. It's really cool being able to make decisions like that. It's almost like I'm responsible for what I buy or don't buy.

Shocker...another complaint about the best online gun-related buy/sell/trade classifieds in the state. Oh...did I mention it's entirely FREE to do business there and you can generally trust those you CHOOSE to do business with? There...I just did.

I'm now gonna go pound my head against a wall.

The labor of pushing the takedown pins in? :D

Actually I just find it a little funny someone puts a used rifle up for near the cost of a comparable new one, especially a pieced together rifle.

You can buy every single piece to build your own car too, but are you gonna do that??

I actually do that all the time... so not a good argument. :)

Simple fix, if you dont like someones price, move on. The market will dictate if a price is fair or not.

Thats my plan, I smile and nod and maybe laff and go buy something else.

the OP would do well to consider the general consensus of the staff regarding complaints about the trading post when making such posts.

Yeah. Or maybe he is one of the mods posing as a regular member, and he's bitching about the trading post so they (the mods) have a reason to shut it down since it is apparently a huge pain in the butt for them.

We're on to you...

You know, I really had not considered that, the entire thread can be deleted if any mod so chooses.

Like any internet trading post, forum, or auction site, you HAVE to know what you are doing. There is a lot of caveat emptor necessary in any purchase. You have to know what you are buying and what you are willing to pay. If you do not, and buy anyway, expect to get hosed occasionally. Even those of us who think we know what we are doing get beat every once in a while. I usually take it as a lesson learned and move on- but it doesn't happen very often. I find this trading post to be a very good one. I've never been "beat" here or cheated. Every single deal has been a fair one and has gone off well. As to the forum itself- I have said my fair share of stupidity on here and have paid for it in one way or another. At the same time I have seen lots of stupidity and I try to keep my comments on that to myself- usually not very successfully. It is what it is, and we are free to come and go as we like.

Yeap- the very first thing i do when I find an interesting item is look up the price. If its a gun generically just search Buds Gunshop online store and see what it cost new, then make my own judgement as to what it might be worth to me used. If its an accessory or other item I just try to find the average new cost and go from there.
If its a good deal to me, I dont eff around, just commit to buy and arrange pickup. If its not a good deal again, its smile, nod, maybe a little laff, and on to the next interesting tidbit.

Wasn't there a threat of a ban hammer on someone giving a +1 in a thread.. I mean this is essentially what just happened.

Have you ever felt when someone said 'Drama Queen' that they were referring to you, as in english class with 'you' being understood when speaking to someone?

Who gives a shit?? As a newer member perhaps you neglected to read the rules & reg section. IF you did read that section why are you wasting bandwidth, jerking off about what someone is selling something for??

Need to add

There are some lightweight thin skinned mf$%^&ers on the board. You have nothing beneficial for increasing your post count besides bitch like some pre menstrual teen. Give me a F$%^& break.

Meaning isn't important. It was the manner in which it was delivered. I understood it quite well.

I'm pretty sure it means: "Why not just shut the fuck up about how others price their items in the Trading Post instead of pouting like a little bitch?"

I could be wrong, though.
