At least your not losing any eye . Mighty close to losing my right eye.
On the bright side still walking, talking, breathing.
L4L5 issues here also. Inversion table and core exercises have worked wonders!

Please please please.... Do not exceed the activity limits your doc gives you. I had surgery at L4-5 / L5-S1, and didn't limit my activities as directed, and I'm still paying the price. Good luck with your rehab!

^Absolutely this!^
I suffered from nasty spinal stenosis, where the nerves were getting pinched by the vertebrae, from aging, disc compression/wear, arthritis, all that shit.
I had a laminotomy at L2/L3, and L3/L4 last October. And then a bilateral laminectomy of L3/L4/L5 in March. That's where they remove those knob things on the back of the vertebrae. Which leaves the spinal cord kinda exposed and vulnerable, but relieved the pressure on the nerves completely. They call it a "decompression".
My back feels great now, the stenosis is gone. But the spine kinda cracks around a little, like it's loose. Biggest pain I had, and am still dealing with a little, is the muscles healing up. In order to get to the spine, there's a lot of muscles that have to be disrupted, and they don't like that much.
But hey, if you're suffering enough to consider surgery and the doc says he can fix it, I say go for it! Since you did, be damn sure to rest LOTS and take it very easy!!! Consider the limitations they put on you as maximums, and strive to stay under those limitations. Or you WILL regret trying to overdue it! No BLT's...Bending, Lifting or Twisting. Lift nothing heavier than a jug of milk.
If you can swing it at all, let yourself have the time to heal up, you'll be glad you did. I had no choice but to go back to work after like, 2 weeks, and have paid a price for it.
Oh, and you don't want to laugh! Or cough, or sneeze. Even farting may hurt for awhile. Every thing that involves your lower back muscles in any way, you'll take notice of it. But you WILL heal up, and you WILL feel better!
Damn,that sucks man.
Be very carefull with what you do,you do not want to agrivate it.
So howa bout them JETS???[Coffee]
Thanks boys! This is insannne
Hope you feel better bro, med up if you got them. Nothing worse then fighting back pain.
So much for making the poor guy laugh.

This is almost exactly what I had, how long after the surgery do you start feeling better?

Start rehab next week.. 'spinal stabilization' so I'm sure lots of core work.. even though I typically do a lot every week.. we'll see how it goes.
This is probably the only thing I've ever listened to the doc on cause it freaked me the fuck out.. Sciatic is still aggravated so my leg is still 'tingly', which it's also causing my back to spasm, which is keeping the muscles tight, which is not letting them relax and removing pressure off the sciatic.. it's a vicious circle. Tried muscle relaxers and tramodol (nice stuff btw) and nothing.. so now massage, 'trems' unit (I think that's what it is), and a few other things.. we'll see how they work..
Wigg I feel for you..

Three surgeries in the past 23 months and I am rodded and fused from L4-T2. Last surgery was in January and been in more pain again. Went to see bones last week and I have broken one of the rods and fractured the L2-L3 fusion. Have do it again. I'm getting sick of this. Me and ole' Watson are constant buddies.
Hope you heal fast man! God Bless!

Two of the best (supposedly) here in the springs can't make up there mind about me. One wants to do this and the other says that if you want to fix the MRI you need to do this.......
So as they were auguring outside of the room I came out and told them that they needed to get there shit together. I told them I have 33 years of Doctors lying to me and I am very fine tuned to this. The look was priceless.
So they tried to punt and send me to someone else for another eval. I did not go and since I am in a lull right now on the pain issue I am going to wait for awhile. The meds have kept it to a dull roar at this point but if I have another big flare-up then under the knife I go.
I fully understand what is involved and since like Monky they have to go in through the back side this will be no fun. [Bang]
BTW it is a "Tens Unit" electrical stimulation to reduce pain. They also can be some fun if you use it with your other half correctly. ;)

Wiggity---Who did your surgery?
This is almost exactly what I had, how long after the surgery do you start feeling better?
Sorry, haven't been on for a few days....
The drastic effects of the surgery aftermath should lighten up in a few days, you're probably feeling somewhat better already. But you'd better count on 3 months minimum of taking things very easy. 6 months before you're "safe". I'm just coming up on 7 months and I still have muscle soreness. But they'll have you on PT sooner than you think.
Remember, if you had anything close to what I had done, they did a LOT of disruption to tissues and muscles! And that stuff takes time to heal up. Living bones are nothing like the "dead" bones we're used to seeing.
Think about taking an animal, like a pig, cutting its back open through all the fat, getting through all the muscle as gently as you can to get to the vertebrae, then cutting out pieces of the vertebrae and restoring all that muscle, tissue and skin back to the way it was.
I've researched what they did to me a lot, and I have tremendous respect for my surgeon considering that I feel as good as I do.
This is a drawing of a laminectomy, they did all three of mine, that's why the red lines are on L5. Doesn't look too scary, huh?

But this is what the inside of a human REALLY looks like! Different story. They've gotta work in there and fix what's wrong, without damaging anything else. My surgeon's assistant ( a real sweetheart) says she refuses to eat any meat that still has bone attached to it, it freaks her out. The large L3 and L4 are vertebrae, the smaller numbers represent various nerve bundles.

Oh, here, I forgot the muscle pic. See, there's several layers of muscle covering the area where they worked on your spine too. I don't know how they get through all that to get to the bones, not sure I want to know.

This makes it a little easier to understand why you hurt so damn much right now. There's a lot of pissed-off tissue inside your back.
