I was in Chicago at Motorola for training that week. Guy next to me received a phone call. He was on a emergency notification list for the NYcity area. Seems an aircraft had hit one of the WTC towers. I said that was no accident!... news started to trickle in. We all end up watching helplessly as events unfold in the auditorium on the projection screen tv.
I had worked on the UAL aircraft that were used. Several co-workers were dispatched to the scene in PA to assist the FBI. Several pilots I knew were good friends with the UAL employees on those planes.

I was at home here in Arvada when the first plane hit the WTC. As we watched the news that morning nobody knew for sure what really happened. They reported that some sort of a commuter plane or helicopter must of accidentally crashed into the first tower. Within minutes my wife and I stared in shock as the second plane slammed into the other tower. I realized this was no accident. I was feeling pretty sick by the time it was all over. I couldn't hardly sleep that night because of how pissed I was and how quite the skies were with the occasional fighter jet patrolling over the city. We'll never ever ever forget September 11, 2001

I grew up in Flushing, NY in Queens one of the 5 boroughs of NYC. Last night I had the pleasure of reconnecting with a good friend who works for #4 Truck. They were one of the first houses to respond to the WTC. 16 of his brother's fell that morning including their Chief and their truck. Sitting here this morning thinking about what I was doing 10 years ago when I first learned that the United States of America was under attack and I'm angry. What can I do? What have I learned and what am I teaching my children? I feel that I am trying and believe in my heart that I am a patriot. I want to honor those who fell, and those who chose to put on the uniform. I feel that education is the answer.
I don't see where we, as American's, have adopted the lessons learned. I see more and more youtube video showing just how truly barbaric we are to each other. The video of the mother who called her gang banger brother from the bus because someone confronted her about spanking her child disturbs me to this day. My 16 year old son rides the bus everyday and I am more than concerned. I see rights of American's being given up under the guise of safety, I see more and more political activity to limit what it means to be an American, I see the facade that TSA is keeping us safe, they are not keeping us safe, I see more and more legislation to "control" honest citizens and limit our freedoms that our founding father's fought so hard for. If I read another story about a company laying off tens of thousands of American's only to hire 5 times that many in India I'm going to puke. Why is this practice not consider TREASON? Where are the honest factory jobs that made this country great? When did we become a nation of embarrassing wal-marters? More people vote for their favorite American Idol than for President.
Sorry for the rant....feels like a Monday all over again.
I know I'm all over the place but I'm feeling this something in the pit of my stomach and want it to go away.
I'm really digging this forum, thanks for having it.

I was getting ready for school that morning and my stepdad yelled at me to get in the living room. I thought, "oh great, what did I do now?" The news was on and he said a plane flew into the world trade center.
10 years later I'll be spending the anniversary in Asscrakistan. Is there any reason to fight a war for 10 years? What are we hoping to accomplish now that we haven't been able to in 10 years? There is nothing here in Afghanistan that is worth one single American life. Nothing. We need to shit or get off the pot.
Never Forget.

Exactly, we should have made our revenge so terrifying that no one would want to experience it in the future and been done and home for dinner.

Stay safe Brother.
I was watching a VCR tape of Star Trek TNG from the night before. On 9/10/01 I was @ Invesco the Broncos play the Giants. When I turned off the VCR the news was on in the background, the 1st plane had just hit. I called a buddy who lived on 82nd and could hear the sirens when he picked up the phone. I then called my mother told her I felt that this was an attack and not to go into the city that day for a doctor's appt and the line went dead. Seconds later the 2nd plane hit and it took me 7 hours to get her on the phone again.

I was a mechanized infantry (Brads) company commander in Germany. We were conducting live fire exercises when I received the call. The entire Brigade was brought back in and we locked-down the base. Nothing like parking Bradleys and Tanks at the front entrance to deter terrorists :).

I was in training for a job on Sept 11th 2001. I turned on the tv to catch the news before going in for training. I turned it on shortly after the first plane hit. I got reqdy for work while watching the coverage, and I saw the live coverage of the second plane hitting. I'll never forget the feeling of anger and disbelief when that second plane hit. Knowing at that moment it was an attack.
Ten years later my anger has shifted from the people responsible for the attacks, to the government that has wasted trillions of dollars trying to install a government in a country that wont except it. Using the lives of American men and woman to move towards a futile goal. We should have responded so fast and so brutally, that no other nation would dare try it again. There is no way to stop the hatred towards us, we should have just dropped a hydrogen bomb and left it at that.
I thank our service men and women for continuing to fight. I will never forget those that lost their lives on that fateful day, or the days following.

I was getting ready for school, my mom had turned on the news and I saw it after the first plane had hit. Went to school and in my math class, my teacher had the tv already on, where we watched the second plane hit. We didn't do any school work that entire day.

I was in college, sleeping in, skipping my first class of the day when my phone rang. It was my Dad, I didn't answer. I checked his message minutes later and he simply said "Wake your ass up, turn on the TV, we've been attacked." It gives me goose bumps just writing that. Chilled me to the bone that day. I'm sure I turned ghost white when I heard that.
I watched the second plane hit live and didn't turn the TV off for days. I remember how stupid I thought all the news speculation was after the first plane hit that it "might be an accident". Boy were they wrong.
I remember Bush's speeches. Both on TV that night and the one on the bullhorn at the site a few days later. Say what you want about him, but he did a fantastic job rallying and holding this country together immediately after the attack and in our time of need.

I was in my freshman year at Arizona State University. I was working out at the rec center when ESPN was interrupted by video of the first plane. All the TV’s in front of the ellipticals are switched over to the news and I got to see the second plane hit live. I wanted to cry, I wanted to hit something, I felt sick to my stomach. I wanted to drop out of college and joined the Army. My parents talked me out of it and I still regret never signing up.

10th anniversary is coming up....I hope everybody has their eyes open and their magazines full.
Sophomore in high school at the time. Was in my JROTC dress blues, as we did every Tuesday. Didn't have a first period, so I was on the computer gaming. Had the local news on, which broke to Good Morning America about 5 minutes early because of a plane crash.
The game chat room I was in was already talking about it. My dad was in the other room getting ready for work, also had it on. They showed the skyline from the north, when the second plane flew in. Nothing is more surreal than you saying "Oh shit," hearing your dad in the next room say it, and see 30 other people on line type it out all at the same moment.

I was at my GF place off Leetsdale and Illiff. My Dad Nextel alerted me and I woke up. He told me to turn the TV on and the WTC had been hit. I watched the 1st tower drop, and I immediatly called my ex wife and went to get my Daughter and then to my Dads house (I was living with him at the time).
Im still angry and want revenge more then ever. Lets finish this war right, the way we should have in the first place and get our Men and Women in Uniform home safe.
Im sure most of you feel some justice was done the day that SEAL Team VI got that motherfucker, but more needs to be done.

I had never felt so sick to my stomach or pissed off in my life. Not that it makes up for ANYTHING, but Im glad Bin Laden has met his maker.
I just woke up and was getting ready when my buddy came over to pick me up for work and next thing I know was there was a pounding at my door and my buddy flew in and said turn on the TV, I responded with "Who did we go to war with", Never forget it. Turned on the TV after the first hit and watched the second hit. Went to the bank and watched the towers fall...
I still have a deep seated anger that I can't or won't get rid of.

On my way to DMV, peter boyles was talking about whether or not this was an accident or a hoax as he was not accessible to a tv, then minutes later confirmed it was real.
One of my cousins was 2 blocks down from the towers because his dad/ my uncle had goaded him in to doing breakfast as he always worked 12 hour days at this investment co in tower 1. My other cousin vaguely remembers trying to get off the floor and down the stairs in tower 1 also, as smoke was everywhere. He knows someone grabbed his arm and dragged him out in to the street. the next thing he remembers is ending up in mid-town not knowing how he got there. My neice was at Columbia U when it happened, she called my sister who told her to get the hell out of there ASAP. A NYC cop tried to prevent her from going over the bridge, luckily she had one of my dad's gold sheilds from 20+ tears as a NYPD detcetive My sisters attended 10 funerals after wards, my brother was home sick when parts of the tower 2 jet cut a swath through another tower, two desk over from where he would have been sitting that day. a few of his business partners like many others where never found. Fellow running partner was doing a solarium on a rooftop 8 blocks away when he had to jump off the side of the framing, because "this jet came this close" as he remembers to taking his crew out. When i finally was able to get through to my sister, she said the cops and fireman were driving through the neighborhoods telling people over loud speakers to stay off the streets and in doors until further notice.
We were back in NY for my sisters wedding in dec that year. even with the id's i had was unable to get closer than 6 blocks from GZ.
Our daughter commented that only in NY could you see a burned out building while right next to it a beauty shop had their open sign lit!. Somewhere i have a pile of pictures i took while down there.
I'm not bitter towards a foreign country who's citizens bank rolled the attack. I do however have an issue the country was never punished for it's actions, because being able to drive is obviously more important than justice. YMMV
