View Full Version : CRC Multi-Gun 2013.
For those of you with Calendars, here is the plan for 2013:
Feb 2 - .22rf
Mar 2 - MG
Apr 3-7 - A2 MG Championship
May 4- MG (4G Stage)
Jun 1 - MG
Jul 6 - SCRUBBED (looking at a new date)
Oct 5 - Drive Up MG
The Feb match will be like a MG match, but 10 rounds pistol and 20 rounds rifle (all rimfire) on 4 stages.
The April match is the Area 2 Noveske Multi-Gun Championship. 10 stages, 420 rounds, CHEAP entry fee. www.comgchamp.com (http://www.comgchamp.com) Apps should be up on the webpage today sometime.
May is ONE stage, 4 guns, about 300 yards of movement, probably about 60 rounds per gun plus 15 required rounds of precision rifle (60 seconds PAR and you can use your AR). It will be 10 minutes or so of glee!
Mar 2, Jun 1, Jul 1 will be normal MG mathces.
Might do an intermediate level class in August on the 30th.
I've also put Oct 5 on the Calendar for the 1st Annual "Drive-Up" Multi-Gun. Meaning, you show up and go shoot 150 rounds COLD with no walk through. Just a card with instructions, and get to it. Probably a $50 entry with some prizes. More details to come.
If the weather holds, I am planning on doing a 3G/MG class on November 23rd 2012, black friday. We'll set up a fun shopping spree stage to run at the end.

Mark,
Excellent ideas for matches this next year!
Something else you may want to try out for one of the normal matches is a First Come, First Served type match. I shot an IDPA match like this in Piru, California that was put on by the guys that originally started the Steel Challenge. They set a start and end time for the match registration. You can show show up anytime in between and sign in and start working though the stages. There are no squads, just ROs dedicated to each stage and you just walk up to a stage without a line and shoot. If there is a few people at each stage, you hand in your score sheet and wait your turn. There was like 90 shooters that shot this match but my buddy and i were out of there in 2 hours because we got there early.
Just something else to think about to mix it up.

Only problem with that is set up, tear down, stage resetting and clean up.

Ah ha!.... I knew I forgot to mention something...
The match was $25... The ROs did all the setup and tear down and they got paid. And of course they shot for free before anyone else shot. Clearly this was a large match with lots of shooters so the money was there to pay the ROs. And I was plenty happy to pay the $25 so I could just show up, shoot and leave. I was on vacation and didn't want to burn an entire day at the range. They were even nice enough to get me a set of mags that were Kalifornia Commie legal so I just had to show up with ammo and highly secured gun that was unlocked from my trunk upon arrival.

Thanks for putting up the schedule early Mark, having these dates set so far in advance is very helpful for planning them around work/family.
I am really looking forward to the Noveske Multi-Gun Championship again this year and have a set a goal: don't DQ. :)
Jason, we do rolling squads for the USPSA pistol Super Classifier. For 3gun, set-up, tear down is an issue.
That October 5 match will be close. Show up, shoot, RO/re-set for a few shooters and then you can leave.
The application is attached.
I am in need of USPSA certified ROs. There will be two options for staff.
1. Free match, free food, $100 cash, prize table based on score. (Shoot Thursday, work Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday morning)
2. Free food, $250 cash, random draw prizes. (Work Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday morning).
I will need set-up help on Tuesday and Wednesday and will provide compensation.
If you want to work, please let me know.
Changed the date of the "Drive Up MultiGun" from August 31 to October 5 due to a calendar conflict.

So for the 22lr match we don't have to worry about reloading if we have 10rnd pistol and 20rnd rifle mags? Do we need a holster for the handgun?
Is this the same as the NSSF Rimfire challenge that I see on the crci calender?
I see the Noveske shoot is from the 3-7, but you shoot on fri-sat or sat-sun? Are Wed and thursday setup days?
Thanks
.22 match, no holster needed, 10 round mags, yes, NEAR, but not just steel challenge copy, we are going to stretch it.
Noveske, yes shoot fri/sat afternoon or sat/sun morning.
Wednesday set up, Thursday staff shoot

It will be more like 5 minutes. The 60 seconds PAR is for the precision rifle portion so as not to handicap those who choose to use a bolt gun.

Well what fun is it if no one's heart explodes!?
Saturday, February 2, we will have a 2Gun match at CRC. There will be 4 stages and each stage will be shot with a .22rf handgun and a .22rf rifle. Stages will be static steel, 6 to 9 targets per stage. You will need about 80 rounds, but bring more because we may decide to do double runs on all stages. Match fee $10.
2 stages will have separate strings for rifle and pistol and 2 stages will one string for rifle and pistol and transitions will be off of a table. Scoring will be Time-Plus. Divisions will be Limited (Irons on both), Tactical (Irons on pistol, Optic on rifle) and Open. You will be afforded one mulligan per stage for malfunctions. If you want a little variety to rimfire steel challenge, or to practice some 3Gun skills on the cheap, this is for you. Also great for NSSF rimfire challenge practice.

Still on for this Saturday? I was supposed to work but got out of it. Just gotta buy a friend lunch someday!
Same as march? 4 Stages?
Still on. Drew is doing a stage and I have a 3Gun stage...probably 4, but one long one more like a RM3G length stage. Still about 60 rounds per gun.
I know it is a little tardy, but the scoring program got corrupted somehow after I loaded in the scores last month and I could not get it fixed, and we could not find our install disk...Got a new one from USPSA and got the db all rebuilt this past week. For those who were new, nice work. It was a tough match and you all did very well!

We had a great match yesterday. It started out calm and cool, then windy about the start of the match. Had a few folks leave since it was windy. The first stage was a bit of a challenge, then it calmed down and we had a great day. The stages were a blast. We used the one Drew designed, but scrapped the other three and used the new berms so we got to shoot the rifle like a rifle. I'll get the scores posted up tomorrow.
Mark,
Thank you guys for putting this on. Had a great time - again.

Damn. Looks like I owe Lance lunch.
Thanks Mark for putting together a really fun match. All of the stages were reallly fun and challenging. Too bad there are no more of these till Sept.
I "may" be inclined to set up a 100 and a 200 yard stage for the July USPSA pistol match if enough of you will commit to come shoot the USPSA pistol match and then we can shoot the two rifle stages afterwards. Heck if someone does not want to shoot the pistol match but come out and set up a stage, they can shoot for free. We can run them a few times if time permits.

Since the berms were not done, I am trying to get this back on the calendar for September 7.
We are back on for September 7 for the ONE STAGE MG. This is my "draft" WSB...
Start in bay "1", Pistol loaded and holstered, shotgun loaded with 8 slugs at port arms, rifle staged in bay "2", precision rifle stage in bay "4".
Engage 8 slug targets shooting shotgun to bolt lock, sling shotgun then engage Pistol array 1, holster pistol and engage birdshot array 1 shooting to bolt lock. Proceed to bay "2" and engage 1 pistol (holster pistol when pistol array complete), 1 buckshot and 1 birdshot array, dump shotgun and retrieve rifle. Engage 2 rifle arrays in bay "2". Drop rifle mag and fire last round at a rifle target before proceeding to bay "3". In bay "3" engage three rifle arrays then dump rifle and engage 2 pistol arrays. Holster pistol and proceed to bay"4". In bay "4" engage single pistol target and dump pistol. You will have 20 seconds to fire your first shot from the precision rifle. The precision rifle will be about 190 yards, 15 targets: 5 10" flash, 5 Clayoreos, 5 eggs with a 60 second PAR time. Time-Plus scoring.
For those of you who shot the match on June 1, imagine shooting stages 1, 2, and 3 back to back and then the 200 yard berm stage with the different targets.
Rounds: 8 slugs, 8 buckshot, 25 birdshot, 75 pistol, 75 rifle, 15 precision minimum.
$50 entry, prizes and cash payback. Will be limited to 24 shooters (NO NEW SHOOTERS). Group 1 from 9 to 12 and group 2 from 1 to 4. I will need 3 ROs to help me set-up and shoot for free on Friday afternoon.

Yes, I have the single stage drawn up. Probably June match. One stage, 300+ yards of movement, 10 minute time-out, about 35 rounds of shotgun, 70 rounds of pistol, 70 rounds of rifle, 15 rounds precision rifle (2 minutes alloted, just penalties for misses). Limited to 25 shooters.

It will be about 200 yards, 15 rounds, 15 targets from about 1" to 4". A few reactive, a few on paper, after you just shot all the other stuff and ran 350+ yards...

Is there a minimum/maximum caliber for precision rifle? Bolt/semi auto requirement?
Looks like we will finally get a match in. MultiGun at Colorado Rifle Club, tomorrow, April 5. Set-up at 8am, shoot when the stages are up, hopefully by 10am, $20 entry.
About 60 rounds of pistol, 60 rounds of rifle, 40 rounds of birdshot and 5 slugs. The stages will be choicy and set up so that you could run the whole match pistol only, or pistol and one of the long guns.
A few other reminders.
1. There will be NO USPSA pistol at CRC on April 12 as it is the spring workdays for the range.
2. The Pikes Peak Shotgun Challenge (http://www.pikespeakgunclub.org/PP___Pikes_Peak_Gun_Club.html) has less than 20 slots remaining. Don't miss the opportunity to shoot top notch stages, have fun with friends and get some prize table loot! Pro Clinics Friday.
3. The Area 2 Noveske match (http://noveskemultigun.weebly.com/) is at the end of August this year. Registration is open and I am accepting staff applications (the staff package is very good). Don't miss the local opportunity to shoot one of the best matches in the country in your own backyard, for about half the price of the "majors." Pro Clinics Friday.

Hey Mark. Thanks for having us out to the match today! Had a blast. Where do we find the results at?
I'll have the results up tomorrow morning.
There will not be a match in May and June is the ONE STAGE match.
I'll do a pre-registration for the June match beginning of May. Minimum round count is 30 rounds of birdshot, 5 rounds of buckshot, 68 pistol, 60 rifle and 15 precision rifle. I figure the course will take about 5-8 minutes and you will cover about 300 yards, Time-out at 10 minutes. I do need at least 2 people to help me set-up on Friday: Shoot for free and do not have to come back on Saturday. Stage brief at 7:30am, first shooter at 8am on Saturday. We should be done by noon.
Your gear must be Tactical division legal and you will need to sling your AR. There will be no pre-staging of ANY gear or ammo.
The Precision component will be 1 minute, 15 rounds only, starting 30 seconds after you complete the timed portion. You can use a second gun, bolt or an AR, non-magnum, .223 to .308. 15 reactive targets from 1MOA to 5MOA. Misses will add to overall time.
Match fee is $30, limited to 30 shooters, $600 payout (if full). $250 1st, $150 2nd, $100 3rd, $100 closest to 50%.
If you want to shoot this and do not have a shotgun, I will have a loaner VersaMax and Chest rig for SG loading available for the cost of the ammo.
Results were sent out on the ecogooglegroups list: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/ecouspsa
Reminder, no match May 3rd. One stage match June 7.
Accepting pre-registrations for the June MEGA stage match on June 7th. Still need one more person so help set-up Friday morning, shoot for free and not have to come out Saturday.
Send me a PM with your name to get on the list.
Mark- what time would you need help on Friday? I wouldn't be able to do all day, but I could try and jet out of work a little early and get there late afternoon if that would help you.
Shooting for the morning. I'd like start about 8 or 9, be set up by about noon. Take a break, and then the setters can shoot and get home at a decent hour.
We have prizes from Burris, Warne, Xtreme Bullets and Carbon Arms so far.
Got 2 people to help set up Friday (June 6) for the June 7 MEGA stage match. Still have spaces left. The prizes are looking pretty good! Don't be the one who wishes they would have shot this match. :)
If you want to shoot the MEGA stage match, you better let me know SOON. I won't be able to take anyone else after Thursday. Don't think you can show up on Saturday without pre-registering!
Still have a few slots left.
MEGA stage, shooters meeting at 7:30 am on Saturday June 7. If you are not on the list by 5pm today, you won't be able to shoot this match.

Just a reminder, set up about 7:30, shoot about 9:30. All 3 guns on 4 stages, $20, about 70 rifle, 70 pistol, 40 birdshot, 10 slugs. It is going to be warm, so bring plenty of fluids and sunscreen!
My wife and kids just made up the prize bags for the MEGA stage match, which I will hand out at the shooters meeting.
Have a great 4th of July tomorrow!
It was hot, but we had fun. Stages were a little tougher than I imagined. :)
Going to switch gears a tad in August.
August 2 will be 3 stages, $10, still set up at 7:30, but we will be shooting by 9am. The stages will be skill builders and there will be some arrays you may want to take a crack at before Noveske. You will be able to rotate through the stages at will, and shoot them more than once. I am going to have a few of the more experienced shooters help with some strategies/coaching on the stages.
If you are new, or have wanted to try 3Gun, this is a great opportunity to get some skill building in, get some solid practice and pointers, etc.
If you are lacking an AR or a Shotgun, we will have some loaners and ammo you can buy as well as some Carbon Arms loading systems to try out.
No excuse to wait to try 3Gun. :)
End of August is the Noveske (http://noveskemultigun.weebly.com/)match. There are still slots left, but we expect it to sell out sometime in August, so do not dawdle.
Is the range going to be dry enough for the match tomorrow?
Mark, is the match description in your previous post still accurate?
It was, and it was close... :)
We had some guys shoot all 4 stages at least 4 times. There was some serious ammo consumption. Hope you all enjoyed the skill/drill based stages and format. If you would like to see this format again, please let me know.
Noveske is the end of the month, and it is almost full. That is the last 3Gun match of the year at CRC.
