View Full Version : A storm that seems to be brewing, mail order/internet ammunition

There were rumblings about the "ease" of acquisition of mail order ammunition after the Aurora incident. These were brought up on the news at the time and there were some state legislators that were looking at this as an issue. Now that the election is over and CO has a Democrat majority in state government, I think it is only a matter of time before something is proposed. I do not think they are going to go after the guns, or any silly assault bans, for no other reason than the industry is a larger part of the economy here and it would be stupid.

However, I am fairly confident someone is going to make issue of mail order ammunition. They do not realize that a fair number of us consider a good day at the range to start at 300 rounds, and usually it is more than that. Especially when there has been one very public shop owner hopping on the bandwagon of how internet/mail order ammunition sales are a "danger to everyone" (Rich Wyatt, love him hate him I don't really care, he just said it"). I would like to think our state government can approach this with more logic and a cool head, but I just can't see anyone in politics in that light, been around too long for that.

I don't understand the logic of mail order ammunition being dangerous. Hell, it has its own built in waiting period.

Those words Escape the mentality and reasoning of dems and liberals. neither are ever factored in to anything gun related.

Unfortunately, this is a true statement. When it comes to firearms most the time it is baby out with the bath water, without really applying the proper logic. I am hopeful that when this pops up there are cooler heads and the we aren't subject to a knee-jerk reaction that should have already been well researched.

In the end, the argument will come up of "why does it matter" there are plenty of places in CO to get ammunition. For the most part that is an accurate statement, but if something like that makes it through it sets the stage for other things. It is never the first brick that falls you have to worry about, it is the ones falling rapidly after that get you.

Whenever Democrats make any gains anywhere, folk in the shooting community start with the wailing and gnashing of teeth about the coming gun control laws. Most of the time they never materialize and when they do I bet half of those are ideas given to the antis by hypothetical discussions among gun folk.

Lets wait until there's actual proposals before we start worrying.

Furthermore, us gun owners should start praying that Democrats in Denver and DC start writing gun control legislation because for the last decade or so pretty much every time they do it blows up in their faces and they loose seats.

Mine is less of a the sky is falling look at things, but more of when you have people that do own shops start saying online ammo sales are a bad thing it sends the wrong message. Add to that they are a TV personality, it gives the appearance of more credibility than they might have otherwise garnered.

What part of Liberal Logic dont ya like, Jim? :D The one that prohibits 32oz soda but allow 12 year old to obtain birth control for free w/o parents' consent from school? Or the one that's pushing law to prohibit home schooling and even to define it child abuse while forcing elementary kids to join gay pride parade? Or maybe the one that celebrates a one cell organism as the discovery of the 20th century: LIFE ON MARS, while killing babies are ok because they are not considered life yet. [Mad] Liberalism = mental disease.

The part where i am selfish and no longer allowed to drive on THEIR ROADS. Everything becomes some form of THEIRS if YOU DISAGREE with THEM.
Remember Tolerant & Diverse has no bearing when you do not follow the same thinking they do.

I love Christmas lights. They remind me of the people who voted for Obama.

They all hang together; half of the little bastards don't work; and the ones that do, aren't that bright.

Democrats/liberals do not use or understand logic, critical thinking, freedom, personal responsibility of anything else that a typical freedom loving person understands. They only understand emotions, feelings and lying.

That's the up side of the issue. The down-side is when they DO actually get laws passed is we the people have to live with them until we can get rid of them. We all suffered through the Brady Bill for years. DC and Chicago have suffered through complete gun bans and are still suffering through restrictions so immense, I doubt it will ever change. The list goes on... Yes, this legislation typically impacts there next election year and they get booted, but the damage is done and remains until the pendulum swings again. It's the same thing we are currently seeing the Republican party doing but with different issues. I personally would like to forego another Brady Bill which is sure to have some new form of ammunition limiting verbiage in it. It will take years to get rid legislation.

Wonder why the owner of pole smoke would say that.....Maybe to boost his shop sales? I agree that there will most likely be something proposed about the mail order ammo but if you think it will stop at that your sadly mistaken. Just my $.2

Thats true enough... Except Madoff is intelligent enough he could probably give you some really good investment tips, as long as he isn't directly involved, anyway. I'm still waiting for a positive story about "GunJoke" though...
