ROCKS!!!

The mag release on my little PM9 started getting too touchy, and it would release the mag from just light touch while firing. I called them, and they were really friendly and interested in fixing the problem. They're sending me an upgraded mag release (at no charge), which they say should fix it. We'll see how it goes, but if it doesn't solve the problem, they said I can send it back and they'll handle it. That's how all customer service should be.

I've had good experience with them as well. They certainly seem to go out of their way to help their customers. I even had them work on a gun I bought used from a pawn shop that had a minor issue. They did it for free.

Anyone ever called or inquired about a barrel peening problem? Seems prevalent with the VA and VB series PM9s... and I just happen to have one with some mild peening.

Ive had a few failures to feed with certain HP ammo. I read that this happened some with the early models (mine is a "VA".... serial number). I called, and they said to send it to them, and they'd inspect and polish it, then be sure it worked. I'll update when it comes back.

I got my barrel back in the mail yesterday. Polished up very nicely! It'll dry-feed ANYTHING now. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but expect that it's gonna be exactly as it should be. I'll post if its not...

I wish S&W was the same way.. can't even get a live person on the phone and they've had my practically brand new MP340CT for repair for nearly 3 weeks without word.

Well, last Monday (14 Jan 2013) I sent in my PM9 to get the barrel peening issue looked at. They wanted me to send in the whole thing, along with my mags... So I'm feeling a little nekkid right now without my primary carry gun. I noticed that the slide had some peening and unusual wear marks on it too, so I made sure to note that, along with the barrel's peening. I kind of suggested that maybe a replacement barrel and slide would be prudent, so we'll see what they do with it. I'll update when hear from them or get it back.

Got my PM9 back from them yesterday (30 Jan 2013). They gave it a new slide, barrel, and recoil spring. They put the old night sights into the new slide (thankfully).

Now, there is a sizable gap between the frame and the slide, forward of the trigger guard, that greatly concerns me... I will post pictures over the weekend if I have time. They sent me a service note that said they fired a test round through the firearm, but this gap doesn't seem normal...

And here's the pic I mentioned in my last post:

In order to rack the slide, you have to make sure that this gap isn't there by pushing down on the front end of the slide so that the groves at the very front of the slide will line up with the metal rails inside the frame... This makes it less than ideal for a carry gun. I'm guessing the newer PM9 frames have extended rails to catch that grove on the front of the slide?

Your new slide looks about 1/8" longer than mine (an early model). Mine has been flawless since they polished the barrel and I replaced the mag catch. You can see a gap between my slide and frame, but there is absolutely no problem with its function. If you're having a problem, tell them.

If it's not too much trouble, can you measure the length of your frame like this?

Thanks for taking the time to do that. My slide is indeed about 1/8" longer than yours. [Dunno]

Looking more closely... I'm pretty sure I can fix this with the careful application of a dremel... Just widen up the entrance to the groove on the front of the slide to make it easier for the interior metal slide rail to catch it. I'll post an update if I decide to do this. Honestly, I like fixing things myself, and I don't feel like paying postage to mail it back to them.

Good luck! Take pics along the way. That would be a cool thread to post.

Cool thread to watch. My wife carries the CM9 and I carry a CW9.
I really didn't like the floor plate of the CM9 so I ordered 2 more plastic floor plates for the CW9 mags to swap out the CM9 mettle plates with the plastic ones. I actually had to sand them down a bit so the mag would seat into the grip. It adds an 1/8-1/4 of an inch or so but she and I like it better.
YMMV-just thought I would advise

Honeybadger, your slide gap looks exactly like my old style PM9 how it left the factory. Also the front rails should already be in the slide grooves. If the rails aren't in the grooves as it sits normally, something isn't right.

The new slide they gave me doesn't perfectly match the OLD frame I have. It is one of the very early VB series... SN: VB5XXX. The metal rails in the frame don't extend all the way to the front of the frame, so they don't catch the groves at the front of the slide. I'm about to post a new thread about how I fixed it. I'll update this thread with a link after I post it.

Update: New thread posted!
