Got this info from a (R) Colorado state legislator yesterday. I was told they range from California style AWB to outright ban without grandfathering already existing equipment. Does anyone here have any inside knowledge of what's being prepared for the state legislature when they go back in a couple of weeks?

It is crazy to hear no grandfathering in some of these proposals. How the f do they expect to pull that off? Lots and lots of criminals created outta thin air.

Pot heads become law abiding citizens, while gun owners become criminals...

I think many of them already view us as criminals, this will just make it official.

Guess I'll be a criminal for the first time in my life, unless the holiday boating trip keeps me in line.

They will create a serious underground black market as well for firearms purchasing and selling. Not smart at all always a knee jerk reaction to a more serious problem. Well now I think we all see the importance of voting. So come voting time vote the 2nd Amendment/gun haters out of office and vote in those people who believe in the 2nd Amendment and understand the value of "shall not be infringed."

No possible way for no grandfather clause --- that would be a 'taking' and that would cost money that the state doesn't have.

Besides that, if they actually try and confiscate they will have a LOT of problems. We all know this.

Offer a 180 day grace period with buy back. After that its banned. You are a felon. That takes care of the takings part. As for the $, they will find it , you can be sure of that.

Remember NJ banned them. No grandfather clause. One day you are good, the next so sorry. Turn them in.

I suspect the idea of putting forth a bill with no grandfathering is so that way they can "compromise" down to a tough AWB with grandfathering.

Now I don't want to be misunderstood here, I'm NOT advocating for violence, nor do I an any way, shape or form wish to see or hope for any form of violence. But I really don't see how the State of Colorado could pull off a no-grandfathering AWB with confiscation without dead State Troopers. There are many folk "up in the hills" that will simply not stand for the taking of their guns (hell I won't be surprised to see some sort of violence even with grandfathering).

I pray for Colorado. I pray that cooler heads prevail both in the legislature and on the street. I pray that I will be able to find work in Idaho or Utah and that our house will sell quickly if this shit passes.

The whole Molon Labe thing means something to some people. If they actually tried confiscation there would be pain - a whole bunch of pain. Not advocating for violence - just stating what I believe to be true.

Thats why they won't come to get the guns.

They'll allow them to be turned in, then down the road prosecute one at a time in conjunction with other crimes. No big roundup, no posse going house to house, that would elicit a violent response. Just a passive sort of enactment, such that gradually the public accepts that all "assault weapons" owners are criminals.

Then there will be some real shoot outs in the mountains, hope it doesn't come to that.. To many Vet's in CO. that won't give them up..

You guys realize that most (I'd almost be tempted to say all) cops wouldn't even attempt to enforce any gun grabbing, right? That's a 1,000% increase in risk... No sane, rational human being would jump into a running wood chipper, and that's exactly what any non-grandfathering enforcement would be.

Huh, interesting. Where would that stand on NFA items?

Maybe a dumb question, but how did CA handle NFA previous to their shitty legalization and after?

What good will it be to own them in Colorado if only to look at them? I mean if you go to a range will you be "Busted" and prosecuted? This is going to be very serious this next Legislative session. For certain a Denver style AWB and magazine ban.. Gay marraige will be passed, trying to get around TABOR, massive tax increases.. Colorado may very well be "dying" the way California is.. Texas here I come..

This could possibly prompt some of the actual firearms confiscators (if that would ever really materialize) to spend a lot of their time at the various public ranges keeping close watch on what is being fired. Let's just hope that the membership records at the NRA Headquarters are secure and not ever open to the Feds.

I think the fundamental difference between here and California, there is a much larger portion of the population that are Veterans and people that believe in the meaning of the 2A. Not to mention the amount of tax revenue that the state receives from businesses like Magpul.

If the legislators want to slit the throat of the one of the only industries that showed growth during the recession they will truly reap what they sow.

So do we know any good lawyers? This isn't California, and we have to be able to fight this if they pass something like this. It is ignorant and idiotic to say the very least. Added to the fact California hasn't really seen any benefit from these laws.

I wish they had 500 bills proposed. The more they are confused the better for all.
