Just had an idea....
I think The American People need to start a postcard campaign, and flood the White House, and the offices of every Senator and Congressman with postcards that merely say "Molon Labe".

What do you guys think?

Who the hell is gonna put their return address on it? All they need is to see postcards coming in postmarked from all over the country, with the same two-word message. I think this needs to be pushed to every gun forum on the 'net.

And any moron can find out the meaning in 20 seconds on Google.

And personally, I wouldn't buy pre-made postcards, I'd buy blank ones and run 'em through my printer putting my own design on them. Simple, just the words, don't need any guns or designs on them. I think the Post Office still sells simple blank postcards, and the postage may be a little cheaper than using stamps. Don't know, worth looking into.

I like this. Anonymous gun owners saying "WE'RE HERE YOU ASSHOLE" might make an impact. Let's send them...

I say anonymous because many of us are living in locations where their Reps don't give a shit what they have to say (Boulder). I am in one of these locations. When (OK, if....) they start knocking on doors, do I want to be one of the first on their list because of a postcard I sent a year earlier?

Great idea, should be prefaced with the oath elected officials take to abide by and uphold the Constitution and the statement: "You work for US".

I would not put any image of a firearm on it whatsoever. Look what they do to schoolchildren that draw a picture of one..........

Need to spread this idea to every forum, even if not firearm related.

Agree, every supporter of the 2nd should send one of these to their police chief/sheriff, mayor, governor, senator, representative, and the white house, postage collect. Pressure on local government puts pressure higher up, pressure higher up keeps pressure on local government. They all need to understand where the US Citizen stands on this issue, and it is not with them.

Someone better with artsy stuff than me should put together a nicely done MOLON LABE postcard along the lines of ...
MOLON LABE- Come take them, we will be waiting...

ETA-
I would think the message sent with all the EBR and other firearms sales the past week, the record attendance at gun shows etc. might give them an idea of what they are facing, and it is not time for gun owners to turtle and remain silent, but to become more vocal and put the pressure on them to remind everyone, politely, that we are a free country for a reason, and we will not live in fear of our government, not now, not ever.

dwalker460
12-30-2012, 10:41
grow a set already! THEY are trying to take your possessions and remove your own personal protection. Egging them on? How about reminding them that the 2nd does not guarantee the right to shoot Bambi in the woods, but DOES guarantee the RIGHT to shoot politicians when necessary? How about reminding them that THEY are elected, not crowned, and that if they continue to ignore the 800lb Gorilla in the room he will make his presence known in a way they might not appreciate? How about getting pissed off and caring what happens to this country rather than be afraid of being called a gun nut or extremist or some other liberal bullshit?
How about I hope they feel threatened and I hope they remember the Civil War, which was not fought over slavery, but an oppressive government. How about being a student of history instead off a victim of it?

BPTactical
12-30-2012, 10:50
RCCrawler does make a good point however, they would twist it into a threat.

Like I said, quote their oath of office, the 2cnd(Federal or State as appropriate) with "Shall not be infringed" in bold, close with "You work for US".

Simple, yet bold.

HoneyBadger
12-30-2012, 10:58
I changed the wording a little bit on mine. Instead of "remember who you work for" It's going to say "Remember who you were elected to serve."

Seriously, Postcards are only $.32 each to mail, and you can print them yourself on cardstock or heavy paper. They just need to meet these standards:

Rectangular
At least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inch thick
No more than 4-1/4 inches high x 6 inches long x 0.016 inches thick

In some cases, they even have twitter accounts posted. How funny would it be if we all tweeted several times a day with just the words "MOLON LABE.... Remember who you serve senator (or representative)." and then tag them in it. Tweeting is free. and annoying. [LOL]

You can go to any office supply place like Staples or Office Depot, and buy packages of Avery blank 4x6 postcards on 8.5x11" stock, and run them through your printer, just like making labels or making your own business cards. You can put anything on them you want. The sheets are pre-perforated, you just tear on the dotted lines. Address them and stamp them.
http://www.google.com/search?q=avery+postcards&hl=en&tbo=d&rlz=1T4GZAG_enUS482US482&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=VbDgULDaG8mErAGujIGwDQ&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAA&biw=819&bih=432

For that matter, you should be able to buy blank postcards at the Post Office and feed them by hand through your printer, just like photo paper. The worst part of the whole idea is the postage, IMO.

I put it together with Microsoft Word, so you can just print 4 to a page on some cardstock... super easy! If anyone wants a copy of the word doc so you can monkey with it or customize it, shoot me a PM. I'm trying to make this as easy as possible so more people will participate. If you live in Colorado Springs and want me to just make you some postcards, I can do that too. I'll make postcards until I run out of paper for anyone who wants them. If you want them addressed to a certain person, tell me. Otherwise, I'm just going to print a bunch with various names and addresses on them. I'm planning on mailing 100 postcards by the end of the week.

That's very cool! But does anybody know if there's an "official size" regulation for postcards? At 4 per sheet, I wonder if they'd be too small. The Avery's are 4x6, I think.

I got it. I had some unlined 4x6 note cards lying around and my printer handled them just fine. Got cards now for Lamborn, Udall, Bennet (DC and local offices), State Rep, State Senator, and since I had a couple extra, Diane Feinstein and Harry Reid. I went simple -
On the "picture" side:
“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a FREE state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.”
On the Address side:
"As an elected official, you swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution – HONOR YOUR OATH. We, the People, are watching."

Yep. I'm printing a large variety. I'm planning on printing at least 2 for each senator, so if someone wants to mail out a set to each senator, let me know and they are all yours, ready for postage!

I'm printing out several extra copies for our state senators and reps and I'm going to mail out a set every few days for the next several weeks.... just to be persistent.

Ok, This Friday I'm off. I'm willing to drive down to CO Springs and meet you to pick a bunch of these up and bring them up to Castle Rock. If Bowers and Rapid Fire are willing (I'll PM them), I can drop a bunch off at the two locations and others can pick them up there. I'll to donate $20 into the pot for more paper/ink for the run.

I would just leave the address and recipient off of them so they can be addressed to whom ever. Let me know HB.

LOL thanks guys... I had the day off and Mrs. HoneyBadger didn't so I had lots of free time. All in all, this only took about 3 hours. The most tedious part was looking up each address here: http://www.contactingthecongress.org/ and then formatting those addresses correctly on each postcard. Even with that, my printer couldn't keep up.

As I said before, if you want me to print some for you, but want me to change the design or words, let me know... It's really easy and only takes a few minutes!

I have one set of 100 postcards (one for each US Senator) that is not yet spoken for... If you want it (or just some of them), let me know! The postage on 100 postcards is only $35 and when it comes to participation in this... The more, the merrier! [Flower]

I figure all the pretty ones you guys are printing can do the initial education of the term, and mine will extend the point and set the tone.

Quick and dirty. I made more than I can afford to send. My template got pretty bogged down with paint so there are some drips and over spray. If anyone wants any, I'd drop them off at Bowers as well (if they allow it). However, since mine aren't fancy and clean, I'll only take them down there if someone asks me to. Have to quarter and address them yourself.

In chasing down an appropriate quote for the postcards I was printing tonight, I had to ultimately choose from several great ones. Though there are many, especially from our founding fathers, here is my short-list. I checked them with as many sources as I could find in attempting to verify they are attributed correctly, but use at your own risk:

“The duty of a patriot is to protect his country from its government.”
– Thomas Paine

"I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!"
– Patrick Henry

"A sword never kills anybody; it is a tool in the killer's hand."
– Lucius Annaeus Seneca

"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."
– Mahatma Gandhi

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."
– Alexander Hamilton

"One of the ordinary modes, by which tyrants accomplish their purposes without resistance, is, by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms."
– Constitutional scholar and Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story

"One of the greatest delusions in the world is the hope that the evils in this world are to be cured by legislation."
– Thomas B. Reed

Lots of good stuff in this thread!!!

For anyone who needs postcards, Bowers Tactical has a stack of un-addressed cards that Honey Badger printed. There are also the 200 addressed cards that I printed last night. They are free so just put a stamp on them and send it.

Big thank you to the guys at Bowers for letting us do this and helping to defend the Constitution! If you pick up some cards please throw them some business to show them our appreciation.

Thanks!

I picked up cards from Honeybadger today and left a stack at Bowers, Rapid Fire Bunker, and DCF Guns. I will have some with me while at work at the Parker Walmart if the locals want to come by and get some. They are unaddressed, but the Senator's addresses are easily obtainable on the internet and the link is in this thread early on in the posts.

Cthulhu has graciously taken on making more for Bowers if/when they run out. I will work something out for more for Rapid Fire and DCF if/when they run out there.

Lets get these things posted.

Thanks Teufelhund! I haven't changed the original that Honey Badger created. I've got an updated version (not addressed) that says "We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was causedby the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. - Patrick Henry". I replaced the AR-15 on the front with a Spartan helmet to save some ink. I'd like to get the new version updated so that they are pre-addressed but my day job is getting in the way. What do you guys think about using something like this (http://gotprint.net/g/welcome.do) service to print our cards? It was around $50 to print 1000 so they can do it for less than I can.

So I was thinking that maybe modifying our strategy a bit might be worth examining. I love the postcards (obviously) but I was thinking of using a tactic right out out the "progressive" playbook. How about switching to pre-printed letters & envelopes? I believe that each letter gets a response doesn't it? The automated replies that you get via. email are too easy for them to just brush us off.

Rules for Radicals

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

Just a thought.

One problem: Senators and Congressmen have franking privileges, meaning they get their mail sent for free. So we'd just end up paying to get buried in junk mail.

Excellent point but so would the anti Second amendment sheep. It's not even a drop in the bucket compared to what they spend on all the waste. I'm just trying to figure out how to keep this going without going broke in the process. I've got about $200 sunk into the postcard campaign and I think I could print a lot more letters for a much lower cost.

Anyone and everyone you think should get a "love letter" Badger. I think Barry should defiantly receive a few as should Slow Joe since he's been appointed to save us from ourselves. I've got the face of the card so if you can just send me the backs with addresses that would be awesome. I've been printing them with a Spartan helmet vs. the AR in your original design to save on ink. Not as direct but I think it still gets the point across. If anyone has an idea for a different design or wants to send me a file with a new graphic please do so. Please keep in mind that larger graphics burn through ink and slow down the process. Awesome! Sending as many postcards as you can afford is a great start. If you're up in Fort Collins you could distribute some cards to the gun shops up that way. I know it's a haul for you, but Bowers (I25 and Arapahoe) has some to distribute. Maybe we could work out a meeting between you and one of the folks down this way. If you want to start printing your own there should be several links to the different files on the thread so you can grab them and start the presses up north. I'm buying card-stock from Walmart and found a place on line that has inexpensive ink.

So I just sent him another email explaining this whole postcard idea and put in a link to this thread.

Let's see what happens. It would be incredible to see this idea catch fire and have postcards coming in from all over the country to every elected official in Washington. Even more incredible to see it make national news.

For anyone who's looking for postcards, I just dropped ~4000 off at Bowers Tactical. There are blanks as well as packets pre-addressed to every US Senator and BHO. Please take as many as you think you can use. Handing them out at the rally is a great idea but please be sure that the people who take one will really send it. I'd hate to see these end up tossed on the ground or something. I can see the media accusing us of being litterbugs etc.

Big thanks again to Mike and Rob at Bowers Tactical for letting us use their shop as a distribution point.

I got about half-way through explaining to Laura at The Shootin' Den what the post cards were all about and she stopped me and said I need to bring more.

I have enough paper to print about 400 more. Want me to do it?
