I recently found out I've been cooking bacon totally wrong for years. I've always used a frying pan and plopped the bacon in there and let it crackle and pop and splash all over and get on me and everything else.

I received some wisdom from a friend and I just tried it... You can cook MORE bacon with LESS mess and almost no effort. Oh and you can make CANDIED BACON (which is delicious).

You just take a normal sheet pan put tin foil on the bottom toss a cooling rack on top of it place bacon on cooling rack (10+ strips per thing) toss in the over @ 400 for 20 mins come back to perfect bacon.

Thought I'd share as everyone loves bacon and I'm sure there are some that were using the old frying method 4 -5 strips at a time.

DISCLAIMER: You will get fatter.

You forgot to include a light dusting of seasoned flour to prevent curling and shrinkage. BTW: i set @ 425 for 10 min then check.

Seriously no one here has ever baked bacon besides me and the OP???????

I think I'm going to have to try this when I get home from this work shift.

After all, I have to replace the oven glass because my stupid dog ran into it while we were playing fetch and she couldn't turn fast enough on the linoleum. So, what do you do after replacing any part on anything? You TEST IT OUT!!

What better way to test an oven out than cook bacon in it! I might even have to try throwing some dillo dust on it to test out the dillo dust too (got my first ever larue order a few weeks ago and my first ever bottle of crack... I mean dillo dust... )

Works even better if you have a convection oven. Much faster. [Ban3]

In college, I worked in the kitchen in a sorority. Motives aside...

We had to cook bacon for 180-240 people, girls, guests and staff.

We would lay out pounds of bacon on 24"x48" trays and always do it in the oven. Works great, and I always had more than my share.

A buddy turned me onto this method a few months back and ill never go back to pan cooking. Going to try to dusting of flour tip next time.

Added bonus. This way doesn't stink up your house like bacon grease as much, which keeps mama happy.

I bake in situations requiring quantity.
I pan fry for myself, and to keep the cast iron seasoned.
When I don't have to prepare it, I'll eat however it is cooked.

I don't cook. Not even bacon. That's why I got married.

Oh, who the hell am I kidding? I do pretty much whatever she tells me to. I mean "asks" me...not "tells" me. Nobody tells me what to do.

Oh, who the hell am I kidding?

But I like bacon...nice and chewy. Microwave works well, it's fast and very little mess if you use enough paper towels.

Funny enough, I just started doing this over the weekend finally. I'm eventually going to try the brown sugar coating on the bacon to see how that works, just sprinkle a little on top of each rasher.

If you do the brown sugar have to add red pepper flakes, damn fine. I broil bacon when I add brown sugar and pepper, you have to keep a close eye on it though. Normally just use the griddle, I cook, she cleans [Beer]

Microwave. 1:20 per slice and a few sheets of paper towels under to soak the grease.

Been cooking bacon in the oven for years ever since I saw the cooks in the Army do it in the chow hall, plus I saw the Good Eats episode on salty and sweet that has praline bacon on it. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/praline-bacon-recipe/index.html [Dinner]

Just so I cna report back, I've been cooking BLTs (with about 10pieces of bacon each) everyday the past week using this method and the bacon comes out PERFECTLY cooked! Sprinkling it with a little bit of Dillo Dust gives it a little kick and seems to bring out the flavor of the bacon more (I did some taste tests).

Thanks for the tip!!

My dad always dusted it in flour with pepper and other seasonings in the flour. Pan fried it to perfection! Usually didn't leave room for the rest of the actual breakfast. Slap some on bread with mayo :)

He cut the bacon pieces in half to cook on the waffle iron.

I still don't have enough waffle iron. I'm not going to cook a rasher of bacon 2 pieces at a time.

...and then there's the fat that renders from the bacon. My waffle iron doesn't have a drip pan. [Coffee]

This is a great way to cook bacon!! It really brings out the flavor. Note to self: don't let the grease drip onto the oven burner mechanism, it really tests the smoke detector. [Coffee]

Wildflecken German in the middle of ice-cold dark thirty I traded a pack of smokes for some nice bacon
Cooked in right on the manifold
