View Full Version : The State of Wyoming telling the Feds NO on Gun Control?
http://legisweb.state.wy.us/2013/Introduced/HB0104.pdf
I don't actually know how much fact is here but it looks like the State of Wyoming is telling the Feds that they will NOT enforce any new gun laws that are made. Good for them and I wish CO had balls like this and I hope other States follow.

Reminds me of Montana's Firearms Freedom Act.
Interesting. If I read section (b) right, it says the state would prosecute a federal agent with a felony for enforcing any new gun legislation, and section (c) says the state's Attorney General's office would be the defense attorney in federal court if a Wyoming citizen is charged with a crime under new federal gun laws. Too bad it's a hell of a daily drive from Cheyenne to Lakewood for work.

Finally someone is standing up, I agree I wish Colorado would do the same. The worst is when people say that "you don't need an assault rifle to kill a deer". I guess some politicians need to brush up on their knowledge of the meaning of the 2nd amendment

The proposed legislation is just that, proposed.
It would still need senate and house approval in Wyoming.
I hope Wyoming is ready for the inflow if it is approved

I have been thinking the same thing. If I would have won the power ball jackpot I was going to buy a big ass chunk of land, a missile defense system and tell the .gov to eat shit. You guys could have come there too.

So maybe we need to do a CO AR-15 lottery pool like offices do when the jackpots get huge. If we win we can buy a big chunk of land in WY, setup houses and firing ranges and put enough into tax free municipal bond funds to provide some supplemental income.

let me know how much you're willing to spend... I have already been looking at land the past year now. Small 40+ acres is around $45,000. Larger, about an hour North of Cheyenne 100 acre for $110,000. They are just open land.

I've been hounding the spousal unit to move into the country somewhere for a while now, and I'm starting to wear her down. She took over my PC and started looking at property in WY last night.
I'm not a fan of the style of house that seems popular there though; I felt like I was looking at real-estate ads from the '60s. Probably just buy a lot and build something.

I've looked at land outside of Wheatland quite a bit. It's not quite in the cards yet but we'll get up there soon. I just need to find some land that isn't flat plains for that kind of money/acreage.

I hope my father's side of the family still likes me. They're spread out between Casper and Worland so maybe I can stay with someone while trying to find a job and house up there
Depending on how far people want to drive.... Look over near Encampment. There is decent Elk hunting that way.

My family is from Riverton and it is cold, windy and plain old crappy in the winter. Did I mention it was windy? You know why? Because Nebraska sucks and Idaho blows. Sorry. Greenie joke (if you get the "greenie" reference, you are truly a Wyomingian).

If my wife has her way I'll soon be living near where you are now. She looks at properties in Evergreen and Conifer a few times a week. Kind of makes sense since I work in Lakewood and she works in Golden.

I work in Cheyenne and make the arduous drive to Pines Bluff at least 5 times a month. Yes, it sucks, everytime. If WY ratifies this and somebody no shit puts together a LLC with contracts for all investors, I will put $ towards it. If that's going to happen, lets find someplace that is shielded from the wind with trees. Additionally, we could look into machine & tooling so that we (the LLC) can become both a NFA certified dealer and FFL. When the rest of the country is taken over by the leftist, we'll be the last remaining business that supports the 2A.

If you find something... pretty expensive for houses up here, but if you do I know not many insurance companies are writing up here anymore (except the ones I sell for and one other company... [Coffee] Sorry, shameless plug).
How much is property up in WY? I'd be interested in something in or around Jackson's Hole, lots of land so I can set up a range and no neighbors close by to complain about the constant gunfire.

A few years back a friend of mind offered to sell me like 30 acres outside of Sheridan (towards the Decker coal mines) for 5 grand. He inherited a bunch of land that is pretty nice. If I could find a job there, I would have been all over it.

Shit, you should have bought that job or no job. For $5k you wouldn't even have to live there, just use it as you vacation spot. That looks beautiful.
Also, this same bill is sitting in committee here in SC. Hope it doesn't die but who knows. Bad part is being that first guy/group, throw down a bunch of cash and get your door kicked down and yourself disappeared.

Wyoming House Votes YES on Firearms Protection Act, 46-13
Wyoming House Votes YES on Firearms Protection Act, 46-13 (http://blog.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2013/02/wyoming-house-votes-yes-on-firearms-protection-act-46-13/)
In response to current threats from the Federal Government on banning firearms, firearms accessories and ammunition, States are beginning to take action to hold the Federal Government to its constitutional limits under the 2nd Amendment. “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
Wyoming Rep. Kendell Kroeker has sponsored and introduced HB0104. the Firearms Protection Act. Representatives Baker, Burkhart, Jaggi, Miller, Piiparinen, Reeder and Winters and Senators Dockstader and Hicks have co-sponsered this bill.
Today, HB104 passed the full state house by a vote off 46-13.
Wyoming’s Firearms Protection Act, is “an act relating to firearms; providing that any federal law which attempts to ban a semi-automatic firearm or to limit the size of a magazine of a firearm or other limitation on in this state shall be unenforceable in Wyoming; providing a penalty; and providing for an effective date.” This act nullifies all federal laws made after Jan. 1, 2013.
It's awesome to see such resounding support for the Act.

When did this happen? Source? I'm assuming you mean 5.56/.223 by 'AR calibers', since things like .308, 6.8, 7.62x39, etc. have all been legal and you can get ARs chambered for those rounds.

niobrara county.
the least populated county in Wyoming. Wyoming is the least populated state in the Union.
My kind of place.
please please please let my house close. I worry about it falling through. I hope not.
I have 141 acres here. But, its too small and Colorado has turned in the last 20 years and not for the better.
Sure is nice there, you will see plenty of trucks heading to SD but probably not anymore than Weld County. I would sure like to get back to Wyo if I can find work in my line. Platte county sure is nice when the wind doesn't blow.
Resurrecting this to give an update on this bill:
It has passed the Senate Committee and is on it's way to the Senate for a full vote- it's expected to pass... I am really liking the idea of moving up there now!

I'm in Douglas, Wyoming right now. No way I could live up here. About the only places in Wyoming I would even consider are Casper or maybe Cody.
For all you guys looking toward WY, be careful. Won't be long before you'll all be called cowards running from "the fight".
So be it... I can't go to school unarmed in a city like Denver (applied to UCD and Metro- both Auraria campus). I anticipate that 1226 will pass, so I just figure I'll go to school where they have no problem with someone packing.
Another CO native here planning on a move to WY... It's a shame to see where the state is heading. Certainly, while we're here, I'm fighting like crazy. But there's a time coming where we'll see some big "show downs" between the feds and certain states and I'd rather be part of a state that ends up being a stronghold for freedom. No state is perfect (more than enough politicians that prefer to control folks to go around...) but unfortunately, the mess in CO is a result of a lot of factors including a well organized and financed attempt to change the state by the left.

The Auraria campus, eh? Get ready for constant email notifications about attacks, robberies, and rapes on campus. Used to be a daily event two years ago when I was attending. Always some report of people getting mugged or beaten on or near campus. Better learn some judo or carry a small knife or something....

This applies to ALL posts made since December. [facepalm]
On a related note, New Mexico has a similar bill in the works right now, HB 114. I just found out about it two days ago while reading the Fiscal Impact Report for HB 77 (http://www.nmlegis.gov/lcs/_session.aspx?Chamber=H&LegType=B&LegNo=77&year=13) (modified to be only background checks at gun shows; originally was all sales require background checks) and HB 402 (http://www.nmlegis.gov/lcs/_session.aspx?Chamber=H&LegType=B&LegNo=402&year=13) (restrict assault weapons and mag capacities).
More info here on HB 114 (http://www.nmlegis.gov/lcs/_session.aspx?Chamber=H&LegType=B&LegNo=114&year=13)
Sad thing, is that HB114 was introduced on the same day that HB 77 was, and HB 77 has already made it through the House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee, and is currently sitting in the Senate Public Affairs Committee.

I'm not a huge fan of Laramie but it does score 134 on the City-Data.com crime index. The US average is 307 and the higher the number, the more crime that has occurred. Denver scores a 370.
