Are we Talking about the same Ruger 10/22 that they haven't change in design for over 3 decades?

Hmm I gonna have to look at that. Oh also the new gen 10/22 rifles are called 10/22 carbines. just a flip down rear sight, Rail system attachment and barrel ring.

No big deal.

Look at how much plastic is in an AR or the majority of pistols coming out these days.

Non issue.

Yep that is it. I think it was over on rimfirecentral someone got in contact with Ruger about the changes. Apparently some of the reasoning was machinery wearing out and having to be replaced so they made a choice to use plastic injection for some parts like the barrel band.

I know plastic isn't always bad and there is more plastic in my PS90 then metal, but to me the 10/22 should be wood and metal.

they're also painting the recievers on the new ones. The plastic trigger group didn't surprise me at all, the barrel band being in direct contact with a barrel is concerning.

The recievers have always been a spray and bake finish.

Its a 22. Its not like the barrel band is holding back 62,000 psi. It just keeps constant pressure to keep the POI from shifting too much.

i was referring to plastic next to a hot barrel.

The finish on the new receivers looks slightly better than krylon...

From the Wal-Mart post, the smooth triggers are the old metal design and the grooved triggers are on the new plastic ones.
