I can tell that my dog is just straight out bored without another dog so now I'm looking for a good shelter / adoption place around here. Really kind of wanting a puppy but would settle with an older dog too just because of the activity level of my older dog.

Our last one we adopted from dalmation rescue. They actually responded to our inquiries in a timely manner and did a few follow ups too. How far you looking to travel to look at dogs?
We like working with animal rescue's as we get a history with the dog, know it's been spayed, or neutered, dewormed, AND you have a 7-14 day trail period to see if the animal works with not only you, but your kids (if any) and other pets in the home. With an animal shelter, like a car once off the lot, it's your headache.

I adopted a siberian husky from north star husky rescue. They are really good people and will work with you to make sure you, your family and your home are ready for the breed.

Depending on what part of Weld County you are in, there are Humane Society shelters in Greeley and Boulder (yes, I know Boulder is not in Weld, but it isn't far from the Dacono/Firestone/Frederick area).

Every Creature Counts is in Ft. Lupton on Hwy 85 just north of Hwy 52. They've always got a mass of dogs looking for homes.

I have 2 rescues from North Star. If you like huskies, they are the place to go.

Check out Jer's thread with info on National Mill Dog Rescue, what a great cause! But yeah, DDFL is awesome, and so is any Denver Shelter. Especially if you don't require a puppy (which all get adopted anyway and not killed), you're doing the animals a huge service. So many get euthanized. :(

What kind of dog are you looking for? Not all older dogs have the same energy level. Sitting on the couch all day or hiking/fetching/herding...? Big or small? Breed preferences?

There are some good rescue outfits along the front range.

The last three dogs I have adopted came from Boulder Valley Humane Society. They cover multiple counties and parts WY. BVHS also has a no kill policy (unless the dog has aggression or biting issues).

Longmont's humane society is also worth checking out.

It's a ways from you, but Foothills Animal Shelter at 6th and I-70 is a really good place. Lots of dogs and cats and they take good care of the animals that they have. I got my pit there, they spayed her and did a surgery to help with cherry eye before they put her up for adoption.

As good as Boulder Humane Society is, I'd suggest a different source, only because the dogs at the Boulder option have a pretty bright future and others might not.

I'm looking for a medium sized dog as the other two were cocker spaniels and from the same parents. They're used to us leaving during the day and my neighbors say that they're in and out of the house all day just mostly sniffing each others butts and finding where they're going to pee next. I'm looking for that general size but I am willing to go quite a few breeds... My Little brother wants an alaskan malamute which I don't think we have room for as we both work 9-5 days. I'm assuming I'd come home to 6000+ sq ft of upside dogs with the "I didn't" do it loook... I know everything has it's sacrifices but I guess I'm looking for as small of sacrifices as possible... Hell. If I had 500,0000 Liquid cash I would clone by old tobi dog...
