Saw this and it looks like a good bill, but the antis are all over it. My kids were taught this when they were like 2 and 4 and still remember it 3 years later.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — “If you see a gun, STOP! Don’t Touch. Leave the Area. Tell an adult.”
That’s the message from “Eddie the Eagle” – a gun safety mascot that could be in Missouri first grade classrooms by next summer.
The Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program for students was developed and is funded by the National Rifle Association. Missouri Senate Bill 75 says the program teaches kids what to do if they ever encounter a firearm. It also says children would never come into contact with a firearm while taking the class.
But, some metro residents say they don’t want their kids learning anything about guns.
Aimee Patton, a local blogger and gun control advocate, says the NRA has no place in a classroom.
“I think that having a pro-gun lobby implementing programs in our schools does not effectively deal with our nationwide problem which is mass shootings,” Patton told FOX 4.
Patton says she doesn’t own a gun and doesn’t want her 6-year-old daughter learning anything about firearms. She also says she doesn’t think the program will work.
“The study from the National Institute of Medicine in 2004 showed the only thing that the Eddie Eagle Program did was effectively teach kids a nice jingle – so I think if we’re about funding music in schools, that’s great,” said Patton.
The bill from Rolla Senator Dan Brown requires districts train teachers how to respond to an active shooter on school property. It also mandates the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe program for students. The bill states, “the purpose of the program will be to promote safety and protection of children and emphasize how students should respond if they encounter a firearm” and that “firearms are prohibited from the teaching of the program.”
The NRA says the program works- it says fatal firearm accidents among children pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade have been reduced by more than 80 percent since the program started. The organization also claims that the purpose isn’t to teach whether guns are good or bad.
The bill is currently in committee.

I did Eddie Eagle presentations for years to Cub Scouts. It really does make them aware not to touch guns if they find them and to get an adult. The jingle serves a purpose with the younger kids
and stays with them a long time. Great program JMHO

Replace "guns" with "sex" and you'll see the true mentality of the opposition.

Because ignorance is an effective tool for dealing with potential danger...[Bang]

It doesn't, Patton. But it might keep the child that you are intentionally keeping ignorant as a part of your brilliant parenting campaign from accidently killing themselves or a friend should they ever encounter a firearm. Stupid fuck.

Well, Patton's opinion is just plain stupid and dangerous.
With a head-in-the-sand mentality like that, all her six-year-old will learn about guns is what she sees on TV.
Oh, and whatever Patton herself tells her.

So, in essence, her child will not know what to do if she encounters a gun, because her momma doesn't agree with the NRA?

Yeah, that's the way to give the child a well-rounded education. [facepalm]

Nor does sex education, same sex teachings or any language besides ENGLISH.

So her reasoning is, better her daughter be shot in the face by lead, than seaman.

He "has" to or it's a choice? We could choose other languages and Spanish was one but it was not a "requirement" to learn Spanish.

Ignorance, most of the time willful ignorance has always been and likely will remain the bane of mankind. Ignorance achieves 2 things, 1. lack of knowledge about a subject (ironically never lack of judgement) and 2. Fascination with the given subject. Neither has ever achieved desirable results but most folks seem to be on board with it.

This administration should be charged with hate speech against the NRA and gun owners... They have created an environment where people are now prejudiced against them, unwilling to listen to anything they have to say...
