Does anyone know if Colorado has a law that states that if you are aquitted of criminal charges in a self defense scenario, that you cannot be charged in civil court ? I know that the "make my day" law does, but that applies to in your home scenarios. What about outside the home, other than in your vehicle. I have been told various answers from various people inclusing Leo's ,DA's etc. , but I can't get a for sure answer. My next step is to try and contact an attorney who "should" know, but I just thought I'd put the question out here for anyone who might know for sure. thanks.
Good ?
I will have to ask my attorney who used to work for Jerry Spence...

No, an acquittal by itself does not make one immune to civil charges from a self-defense situation ie., tort or wrongful death.

you will still end up in civil court. just like OJ.
one of the bits of information i have learned in numerous courses, and i pass onto hopeful CCW students is.
no matter what happens with the DA's decision to aquit, or charge, someone in a self defense scenario, be prepared to face a massive civil suite. approx cost w/out any judgement against you to be around $30K.. based on average attorney fee's, expert witness's on your behalf, suponeas of the DA and LE's who investigated the case etc.
still better than being dead!
I like the odds better in court than for me rising from the dead.

I have preached and will continue to do so, the need for advanced studying in asset protection theory. That Trust that you wrote to get your can? Write another one and put your car in it. Same for your house. Your tools. You personal belongings. Let them take out leins against one another.
Don't be stupid, don't own things in your name.
