My nephew and his girlfriend go here. She's still stuck on campus in lockdown, but is okay.
Oh my god.... we need some common sense measures on assault knives to prevent senseless acts like this.

This might sound fucked up but I'm relieved that it was a knife and not a gun. Shitty situation all around but hopefully this won't come back to us in a bad way.
By the 6pm news, the guy will have had a gun in the trunk of his car, and thousands of rounds of "high-capacity ammunition" at home.

As Diana DeGette would say, 'the good thing is once you use them they are used up and cannot be used again'!

Early reports are the weapon was an X-Acto knife.
Time to raid Michaels and Hobby lobby to confiscate these assult weapons. No one needs a knife with a 1" blade. All knives should be limited to no more than 3/8" and cannot be affixed to any device to extend there range.
See, I could do Rhonda Fields job.

This is fake, everyone knows the only way to kill lots of people is when a gun with hi-cap clips are involved...

Fox News just grabbed a kid from the crowd who proceeded to point out, in rather articulate terms, that while many of are legal age law prevents them from carring a gun to defend themselves while on campus.
I actually cheered at the television.
dang, I didn't know a knife held more than one blade? Or did the guy just reload real quickly after each stabbing?

This is coming to mind http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4581871.stm
"They consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen."

I'm watching the reports and while they are mixed and information is still coming in but here is what strikes me. How on an college campus, in Texas, did students have time to run and hide and form prayer circles to pray for safety, yet NOT ONE had the balls to stop a dude with a box cutter or xacto knife?
What the hell. Be a man get in there and take down the dude. Geez a textbook could be used as defense against a box cutter. Sorry if I sound a little James Yeager here but be a hero and go down swinging instead of being a coward.

The Dems goal is to have Texas as a Blue state in 3 years, looks like they are well on thier way.

And it sounds like the attacker was DEAF. How hard is it to get the jump on deaf guy?
Breaking News:
Law makers to promote a Universal background check on Exacto knives, and other art tools.

Official statement by Sheriff. Sounds like students and teachers subdued the attacker.

This!
This actually adds strength to the pro 2A arguments.
For some reason Mik Dundee pops into my head because of this. "That's not a knife" Surely someone had a knife bigger than the punk that was doing the damage, and a gun would've even been better.

Make no mistake . . . they fully intend to get around to banning knives as well. In NYC if you are spotted carrying a LEGAL pocketknife you are automatically arrested on the spot under zero tolerance enforcement of a little known municipal statute which states all knives in NYC need to be completely concealed so as not to "alarm others." And, whenever someone has their residence searched, if they have a knife collection it is always released to the media and used by the prosecution to somehow attack their character. In CO, knives carried concealed on one's person must have a blade length of no more than 3.5" . . . unless you are in Denver, which apparently measures the entire cutting edge, and contrary to NYC states that a knife clipped to one's pocket is "concealed" and if the cutting edge is a fraction of an inch over 3.5" it is illegal . . . Denver is the only place I ever lived where I regularly see people using their pocket clip to clip their knife to the outside of their belt, simply to abide by the law if their blade is 3.75" or 4" long.

You guys are missing the point (no pun intended) with all this. 15 injured...only 2 in critical condition. "At least no one was killed. They'll all recover unlike when a gun is used." :(

yup....agreed here
Agreed. Pretty soon the media will be sympathizing with the poor, misunderstood lil' fella that did it. "At least he had the charity and good common decency to stab them, not shoot them."
I still can't believe there wasn't a militant lesbian softball player carrying her bat bag with her on campus to beat the ever loving shit out of this idiot...

It's TX, there's far less of that demographic down there than there is here.

If it could save only one life, don't you think it would be worth banning the ability to quickly change out blades on knives? Maybe it would buy people a few seconds.

She was also a vegetarian and refuses to beat meat.

I love it! [ROFL2]
Last night while covering this story at 10pm, KOAA (Colorado Springs) news showed a generic picture of a school with the caption "Campus Shooting".
I had already decided that KOAA was anti-gun, but this is a bit over the top.
O2
If they would just outlaw steel, none of this shit would happen anymore.
