I am trying to change my ssid and login password on my new comcast router i have it set up etc and the user guide says to go into the the http:..10.0.0.1 and log in to change it so i log in and am missing the wifi tab to change it. am i tarded or missing something or both.

Well I got the ssid to change but during the password change stuff went wonky grrr
dont attempt simple networks taks and drink boys calling it a night
lol. I don't have any experience with their routers. Drink more then call tech support.

Sorry that I can't help. I own my modem with Comcast and picked the supported model that I wanted...so I understand it. Also own the router that connects to it, so I'm on familiar turf.
My reccomendation is to push and hold the rest button for 30 seconds, after it resests your back on line. They come setup that way for a reason. You can Google Comcast gateway and there's 10 pages on how to change stuff, then there's 10 pages of guys that can't get it to work. The long password sucks but you only have to enter it once.

Do your wireless configurations while using the cable, then unplug and verify. I hope you dont work on big diesels while drinking...[Beer]
If you call Comcast, we cannot troubleshoot wireless issues (including ssid and password setup), you would just get routed out to the third party support (subscription). if you swap the gateway, I believe you get 30 days of support from XSS (wireless guys)
The ssid and network key can be seen, if you can't connect and the settings have been changed its a $50 service call for a tech to come out reset the router and tell you not to jack with it again. So unless you just have to have some cute ssid like super slut or something its best to leave it where its set. Most people either unsecure it and run into problems or change the name and forget the password etc. I have seen a more then a few "it" guys jack with them and either lose connection all together or they are getting like 5 meg downloads when I show up, after a factory reset and $50 they are back to 50 meg or whatever they are paying for.Quote:
