If you call Comcast, we cannot troubleshoot wireless issues (including ssid and password setup), you would just get routed out to the third party support (subscription). if you swap the gateway, I believe you get 30 days of support from XSS (wireless guys)

The ssid and network key can be seen, if you can't connect and the settings have been changed its a $50 service call for a tech to come out reset the router and tell you not to jack with it again. So unless you just have to have some cute ssid like super slut or something its best to leave it where its set. Most people either unsecure it and run into problems or change the name and forget the password etc. I have seen a more then a few "it" guys jack with them and either lose connection all together or they are getting like 5 meg downloads when I show up, after a factory reset and $50 they are back to 50 meg or whatever they are paying for.

The distance is not as good on gateways as it is on stand alone (good) routers, but all in all they are pretty good until they get modified.
