Sugar anxiety because they can't buy a Big Gulp.
Stay classy guys....
Cops and Firefighters are the absolute worst on the ice. I think its all the pent up tension from trying to help people 7 days a week. That and they know the wont go to jail like a regular Joe would. I am supposed to play a Firefighter tournament this summer and have a bad feeling... Just 2 weeks from retirement.
Me too!
I believe a lot of it comes down to money and animosity. They both work for the same organization really, and when one gets new equipment or funding, the other becomes upset when they also wanted stuff. There might be more involvement for those groups, but I do that's a lot of it here in Colorado.
Talk to the guys in Denver and Aurora and they seem to have a lot of not the greatest things to say. Talk to people who work for a pd but the fire department is a district like West Metro, or Castle Rock, or North Metro, etc, and they seem to have nicer things to say as there interaction is only with each other on calls and doesn't stem as much politically.
That's just my take.
I know a once DC firefighter that, as the story goes, needed to get his son some milk and drove like two blocks to the 7-11 and on the way back forgot he only had his parking lights on and was pulled over in his driveway. He did have a "couple" of beers before hand. The cop that pulled him over was an officer he knew from calls worked together and he gave him a DUI and abuse of a minor because the kid was in the car. I would bet if it were a fellow cop he would have not enforced the law.
I think they do it because they can get away it. Ever wanted to punch a cop in the face? (or firefighter)? Well in a rec-league hockey game they think they can and should. Animosity for sure. It also happens with doctors who play, they are awful. They think it's ok to fight in hockey because most actually cant play hockey, and just do it mostly to fight. Everywhere else you either go to jail or get in big, big trouble.
Not at all appropriate behavior by either agency.
Well, better at a hockey game than a potluck or a banquette or something I suppose.
the DPD and the DFD have had boxing matches, get to beat on eachother and its appropriate for the venue.
