I have two close buddies that work for NYPD. The NYPD and FDNY hate each other. Some of the stories that one of my buddies on the ESU tells me would cause most people to get arrested. It is insane how they act.

Yeah, I don't get that at all but I don't know the history of those departments. They both showed some real class at a charity event, buncha stupid fucks.
My curiosity got the better of me, near as I can tell the animosity is part duplication of services, budget, and fire gets paid to sleep.

That is NYC for ya.
Reminds me of the hockey games on the series Rescue Me.

When you believe you have seen the utmost of one's stupidity they never cease to amaze you and go one step further.
Cops and Firefighters are the absolute worst on the ice. I think its all the pent up tension from trying to help people 7 days a week. That and they know the wont go to jail like a regular Joe would. I am supposed to play a Firefighter tournament this summer and have a bad feeling... Just 2 weeks from retirement.
Me too!
If your post count is higher than your round count, you are a troll.
I believe a lot of it comes down to money and animosity. They both work for the same organization really, and when one gets new equipment or funding, the other becomes upset when they also wanted stuff. There might be more involvement for those groups, but I do that's a lot of it here in Colorado.
Talk to the guys in Denver and Aurora and they seem to have a lot of not the greatest things to say. Talk to people who work for a pd but the fire department is a district like West Metro, or Castle Rock, or North Metro, etc, and they seem to have nicer things to say as there interaction is only with each other on calls and doesn't stem as much politically.
That's just my take.
