Can Tampa Bay Set Such a Policy ?

Restricting purchases for hometown fans ... looks entirely different when you're in the hometown. I've had friends and family get mauled for wearing opposition team jerseys in Boston, New York, and Denver so I could see TB prohibiting such wear at the arena on public safety basis.

Go Lightning, I can't stand the Hawks.

All they have to do is register as Tampa fans, then vote for the Blackhawks in the primaries.

I've actually grown to like the Lightning, the Norfolk Admirals were their AHL affiliate and I went to tons of those games when I was stationed out there.

In the world of hockey Blackhawk fans rank just below Red Wings, Bruins and Pens for me. No one comes as close as the Canucks for my most hated franchise and fans.

You will have to tell me how true this is or not:
I was told by several people (none experts...just friends) that prior to the founding of the Rockies and Avs etc., that many Coloradans adopted the Chicago teams as THEIR teams, primarily because they were regularly carried on WGN. And since many Coloradans received WGN, they got to regularly watch, and follow these teams. Soon they sort of 'adopted' them as their own.

I'm told a similar story for TBS and the Braves for other areas of the country.

Any truth to this ?

I've only been in metro Denver since 1966 so I can't speak to what happened before that. But I don't know anyone that cheered for Chicago anything if they were from here.

I can see Blackhawk fans in TB wearing there "colors" under a tee shirt and throwing it away when inside just to spite them.

That's not true to my knowledge. I was young when all the sports rolled into town in 96 but I'm a fourth generation Coloradan and most of my family rooted for either the NJ Devils (they used to be the Colorado Rockies hockey team) or St. Louis Blues. As for baseball, there were the Denver Bears Triple-A team that was pretty successful during the 80's, they played at Mile High which despite being the home of the Broncos was actually built to get the MLB to give Colorado a professional baseball team. It was even called Bears Stadium originally.
