I was astounded when I bought my house how much you pay in interest over the life of a loan. it is sickening.

Yep, I just bought a new house and we will end up paying just over twice the original price of the house if we pay just the standard payments.
My aunt is a Realtor and told me if I pay an extra 2 payments a year I would have it paid off in about 18 years.
Other than the fact that we don't have that much extra money and I definitely don't plan on staying there more than 5 it is near pointless.
I can only hope the value of the house appreciates quite a bit and I can make some extra money off it that way.
And I wonder why people rent. They aren't putting their money into anything but they aren't giving the bank a rent payment every month or two either.Quote:
