That is just the reality. I also look at another reason for the 2nd is for self defense. With more and more people hitting rock bottom these days and brainless wonders robbing and stealing whatever they can, the 2nd plays a vital role in keeping society as a whole in check. I was going to bring up a similar point. What is the point of trying to "win" if after the war there is no one for the government to "govern" anymore? Who are they going to tax to pay for all the damage?

I guess it all depends on how it all went down. it could come to a nuke, it could be a slow and painful picking off of the "bad citizens", whom would live in fear daily, absolute secrecy because there would be many people looking to get ahead by throwing others under the bus.
