Medal of Honor Awarded

I read most of the transcript and he is a humble man. Thank You for your service and sacrifices.

The thing that bothered me: looking at some pics of the ceremony the look on the CIC's face when he was fastening the ribbon around his neck. It seemed to be a contemptuous look, almost of annoyance. He did not seem very respectful of the uniform or the honor bestowed upon the awardee.
In pics of past CMH presentations the CIC always showed the awardee a somber respect.

And for Chrissakes they did not attempt a pathetic "man hug".

Either way, I think this guy is Bad Ass. It has been my experience that recipients of medals of valor usually don't think they did a whole lot.

I think it is impressive that he is the first living MOH Recipient since Vietnam.

I believe he deserves the medal, everything this fine soldier did is heroic.

I Wonder sometimes if things like this aren't thrown to the public as a PR Spectacle.
"Look how wonderfully brave our soldiers are." Kind of thing.
Not that they aren't. I'm Just wondering why More soldiers don't get them.
I'm sure there have been a few dozen other worthy.

I actually have wondered that myself, if certain people have gotten certain awards just to boost someone else's political career (I am not implying this soldier did not deserve the MOH). I am however implying that piece of shit politicians disrespectfully use military members to advance their own careers through PR. I also wonder how many military members deserve medals of valor but don't get them because it isn't on someone else's agenda.

Maybe that should be for another thread, I would like to keep the honor of what that soldier did in this thread.

Vernon Baker and six others were awarded the medal of honor in the 90's for actions in WWII for which medals were withheld because they were black.

Ed Freeman and Bruce Crandall didn't get theirs for more than 30 years because at the time there was a two year limit that was missed.

I'm sure there's been lots of times when bureaucratic snafus and bullshit have prevented the awards from being given.

I'd be suspicious of obama with SSG Giunta, but his action took place in 07, and he was recommended for the citation before barry was elected.
