If we have been unemployed for a while we should set up a few numbers for others to call that way we can say that we are currently working just looking for a better job.
I could use that. Just got to remember not to screw it up and talk about the latest soap opera or Oprah soap.
This past week I've been working on my resume. Changed formats from the chronological to functional, trying to high light the skills that are transferable. Picked up a book at the library on writing resumes and cover letters that's got some good tips and examples. Also been trying to keep it to one page but need to redo my "teknical" resume for those rare jobs I'd qualify for.
Been getting minimal interest in my previous style, hopefully this one works out better.

One of the questions I always get asked when called is "are you employed now ?
" and on resume dates of employment are listed with job history. I'm starting to think these are disqualifying me plus I won't even get into the whole age thing [ROFL1] Have an appointment with Social Security next week to see about my options-65th coming up in a few weeks. [Beer]
you're right it is.
A resume is just an invitation to an interview.
So, don't list your entire work history. Beyond the fact that no one cares (10 years ago is irrelevant anyway)
just list degrees and not dates of attainment.
list your last 10 years of jobs or so (without dates)
or just list the relevant experience to that job.
you're trying to get interviewed. they'll figure out you're an old fart when you walk in the door. But they already have something invested in you to interview at that point.
The truth (don't ever lie), but not the whole truth.
