I was watching a VCR tape of Star Trek TNG from the night before. On 9/10/01 I was @ Invesco the Broncos play the Giants. When I turned off the VCR the news was on in the background, the 1st plane had just hit. I called a buddy who lived on 82nd and could hear the sirens when he picked up the phone. I then called my mother told her I felt that this was an attack and not to go into the city that day for a doctor's appt and the line went dead. Seconds later the 2nd plane hit and it took me 7 hours to get her on the phone again.

I was a mechanized infantry (Brads) company commander in Germany. We were conducting live fire exercises when I received the call. The entire Brigade was brought back in and we locked-down the base. Nothing like parking Bradleys and Tanks at the front entrance to deter terrorists :).

I was in training for a job on Sept 11th 2001. I turned on the tv to catch the news before going in for training. I turned it on shortly after the first plane hit. I got reqdy for work while watching the coverage, and I saw the live coverage of the second plane hitting. I'll never forget the feeling of anger and disbelief when that second plane hit. Knowing at that moment it was an attack.

Ten years later my anger has shifted from the people responsible for the attacks, to the government that has wasted trillions of dollars trying to install a government in a country that wont except it. Using the lives of American men and woman to move towards a futile goal. We should have responded so fast and so brutally, that no other nation would dare try it again. There is no way to stop the hatred towards us, we should have just dropped a hydrogen bomb and left it at that.

I thank our service men and women for continuing to fight. I will never forget those that lost their lives on that fateful day, or the days following.

was in HS, we heard about the first plane hit then turned the TV on just in time to watch the second hit...for the rest of the day thats all we did...that was a long day

I don't see where we, as American's, have adopted the lessons learned. I see more and more youtube video showing just how truly barbaric we are to each other. The video of the mother who called her gang banger brother from the bus because someone confronted her about spanking her child disturbs me to this day. My 16 year old son rides the bus everyday and I am more than concerned. I see rights of American's being given up under the guise of safety, I see more and more political activity to limit what it means to be an American, I see the facade that TSA is keeping us safe, they are not keeping us safe, I see more and more legislation to "control" honest citizens and limit our freedoms that our founding father's fought so hard for. If I read another story about a company laying off tens of thousands of American's only to hire 5 times that many in India I'm going to puke. Why is this practice not consider TREASON? Where are the honest factory jobs that made this country great? When did we become a nation of embarrassing wal-marters? More people vote for their favorite American Idol than for President.

Sorry for the rant....feels like a Monday all over again.

I know I'm all over the place but I'm feeling this something in the pit of my stomach and want it to go away.

Dave you hit the nail on the head. I couldn't agree more.

I was getting ready for school, my mom had turned on the news and I saw it after the first plane had hit. Went to school and in my math class, my teacher had the tv already on, where we watched the second plane hit. We didn't do any school work that entire day.

I was in college, sleeping in, skipping my first class of the day when my phone rang. It was my Dad, I didn't answer. I checked his message minutes later and he simply said "Wake your ass up, turn on the TV, we've been attacked." It gives me goose bumps just writing that. Chilled me to the bone that day. I'm sure I turned ghost white when I heard that.

I watched the second plane hit live and didn't turn the TV off for days. I remember how stupid I thought all the news speculation was after the first plane hit that it "might be an accident". Boy were they wrong.

I remember Bush's speeches. Both on TV that night and the one on the bullhorn at the site a few days later. Say what you want about him, but he did a fantastic job rallying and holding this country together immediately after the attack and in our time of need.

I was in my freshman year at Arizona State University. I was working out at the rec center when ESPN was interrupted by video of the first plane. All the TV’s in front of the ellipticals are switched over to the news and I got to see the second plane hit live. I wanted to cry, I wanted to hit something, I felt sick to my stomach. I wanted to drop out of college and joined the Army. My parents talked me out of it and I still regret never signing up.
