Apparently, he was on a number of websites that cater to men that need help socializing with women and are willing to pay for DVD's that he felt he was scammed by (my wife's research on the topic, not mine).
If the "everyone gets a prize" mentality continues in youthful society, I cannot help but think this type of acting out is only going to increase.
Just watched the video. What a fake ass drama queen.
Just heard on the news tonight that this whack job had been receiving mental health care since he was 8. His own family saw the signs and went to the authorities. A welfare check by the police didn't find anything unusual....and this happened.
Gotta go after guns and lawful gun owners, because you can't fix crazy or label anyone that desperately needs it.
I read another article on this subject this morning and one of the commenters asked that since he murdered just as many people with a knife as he did a gun., and used a car as a weapon, why is he called a "gunman." The response was for the OP to go back to his "NRA manifesto." At least one response included the simple fact that if you call him a gunman and focus on the gun, you can rile up the anti gun crowd. My thought was simply: Thou shalt NOT deviate from the agenda!
There's a lot more than 1 commenter saying the same thing. Let the AG's scream for something to be done, The ratio of car / knife victims to shooting is 2-1. Not that an AG agenda cares about Facts. However The Facts have a lot of people asking Why focus on the gun when other weapons were used, along with potential LE dropping the ball, as they did with Holmes
The wife and I cannot agree more with this guy.
Fuck that spoiled rotten little rich kid that couldn't get his wee wee wet.
And at 22, I really wasn't too worried about getting laid. I was worried about going to work and paying bills. If I scored some hunny at the bar or a party great! If I didn't, oh well, when your not looking for it, it will come along.
The women he associated with probably figured he was a bitch anyway.
Prayers on the way up for the victims and their families.
I have met a lot of people in the movie/tv industry and almost without exception, the people that are in the creative end of the business such as directors, writers, art directors, costume designers, talent, etc., are living on another planet. They seem to feel that because they are creative or rich or artistic that they are somehow more enlightened than the rest of us and therefore superior in all aspects to the rest of us. They seem to feel that they are entitled to tell everyone else that they are always right and you are always wrong. I will say the while the talent is on another planet, they were among the nicest people I have met, they just are more into their art and are not inclined to consider anything outside of the art. I would wager that his parents were more into their art than into their kid and some innocent people paid the price of that art. Don't they have massage parlors in Isla Vista? So sad.
That said, I would wager that CA politicians are of the same mindset as well.
OK, well it looks like, we shall all be going down the road everyone is screaming for: Mental health.
I think this is going to be as bad or worse than just recalling the 2nd amendment. Why? because I don't agree with: "a national database that the government will keep [on them]"
More Government oversight that can be abused..... Anyone want to tell me; how this is going to keep people from doing what they have been doing for thousands of years; Killing?
Connecticut Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal told CBS’ Face the Nation on Sunday he will urge Congress to take up gun legislation that failed to pass following the Sandy Hook massacre. - See more at: http://www.teaparty.org/senator-move....UQnD9pkr.dpuf

In January, the Department of Health and Human Services proposed a number of new regulations that would include entering health records in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which gun dealers are required to use prior to selling firearms to customers. The proposed legislation conflicted with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, a patient privacy law.
Mental health officials said the regulations would discourage people with mental problems from seeking treatment due to the fear of being included in a government database.
“I think it’s a bad idea. It would really put a chill on people getting services. They find it very scary — the idea of a national database that the government will keep [on them],” said Daniel Fisher, who was treated for schizophrenia and is currently a mental health advocate.
They aren't going to touch it in an election year.
If they get the majority in the House and Senate, God help us.
Ok, I agree federal databases are bad, but the hypocrisy is about sickening. The same people that will scream for gun registration and every other thing they can come up with are the same ones that suddenly have a stroke of logic in realizing that creating what amounts to a registry of mentally ill folks would discourage them from getting help.
[facepalm]
If they're so mentally ill that they shouldn't have access to guns, should they really be allowed in public unsupervised?
If they aren't allowed to buy one, they could steal one, or just run people down with their car for that matter...
They can always get a knife, flammable products, gunpowder etc.. If they are that whacked they need to be monitored closely or in an institution. Access to guns is a small part of the issue

The sad truth that the anti-gun idiots won't admit to is that if one of this monster's first three victims had been licensed to carry, nobody would know about this story and a bunch of people would still be alive and unharmed.
Again, his first three were stabbed. Another that was injured he plowed into w his car. But it's the gun that is the evil item.
Oh boo hoo, the kid wasn't getting laid, let's all cry him a river because his life is so unfair  I hate little punks like this... Their whole life is handed to them on a silver platter and the first time they encounter some adversity they want to end the world. The real world sucks, but that's life.
For all screaming for the .GOV to address "mental illness"; you sure you really want the .GOV to go there?
One particularly troubling mental health label being applied to veterans and others who challenge the status quo is “oppositional defiance disorder” (ODD). As journalist Anthony Martin explains, an ODD diagnosis
In the four years since the start of Operation Vigilant Eagle, the government has steadily ramped up its campaign to “silence” dissidents, especially those with military backgrounds. Coupled with the DHS’ dual reports on Rightwing and Leftwing “Extremism,” which broadly define extremists as individuals and groups “that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely,” these tactics have boded ill for anyone seen as opposing the government.

Hell no. We do not need any more thoughtcrime beyond the already abused conspiracy charge. That is where this is going.
Some of the things I see people support right now are absurd (like that is anything new).
The gun violence restraining order which is sure to pass in CA is at the top of the list. A sworn statement that you think someone is dangerous, just exaggerate something misheard, and their guns are gone. Sure they can challenge it and get them back. *wink*
So if the person really is dangerous you have escalated the situation. They are still free and dangerous and now are legitimately angry. Maybe they'll use a knife & car like they guy prompting this thread, it is not like you can take away all weapons and allow them to remain free.
If the person was not dangerous you have just railroaded an innocent.
O well in that case! Let me relax now..... thanks!
Wonder if the folks that have been caught up in this know this?

What court does a "mental illness" such as “oppositional defiance disorder” (ODD) go to be appealed?
