Hell no. We do not need any more thoughtcrime beyond the already abused conspiracy charge. That is where this is going.
Some of the things I see people support right now are absurd (like that is anything new).
The gun violence restraining order which is sure to pass in CA is at the top of the list. A sworn statement that you think someone is dangerous, just exaggerate something misheard, and their guns are gone. Sure they can challenge it and get them back. *wink*
So if the person really is dangerous you have escalated the situation. They are still free and dangerous and now are legitimately angry. Maybe they'll use a knife & car like they guy prompting this thread, it is not like you can take away all weapons and allow them to remain free.
If the person was not dangerous you have just railroaded an innocent.
It will take years for the appeal to work it's way through the CA court system.

What court does a "mental illness" such as “oppositional defiance disorder” (ODD) go to be appealed?
