If the state wants to come document my grandfathered firearms they are welcome to try. Otherwise, everything I have, I have always had. It is the state's job to prove me guilty. If there isnt evidence of the purchase pre-law, then how can it be determined that I broke the law?
I guess that is a line for me. If I end up like the Jan 6th defendees, then I will be the poster boy for you guys to fight the state.
Easy way to not stress about this, or any other proposed or existing law.
Step 1. Does said or proposed law align with a plain text lay persons reading of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of These United States?
Step 2. If it does Not align, disregard said or proposed law and try to ignore all conversions about it going forward.
Step 3. If said or proposed Gun law does indeed align with the Second Amendment to the Constitution of These United States shrug and get back to doing whatever you were doing before you found out said or proposed law.

Know the potential consequences before choosing to buck the law.
Yes, this bill is a "wish list" of everything they want. It's likely to be watered down when it comes up for debate. The issue of having to prove ownership of a firearm that a person has owned for decades is problematic and opponents of the bill are likely to point that out.
There is. Every two years on the first Tuesday of November. ;)
Stop pointing out the unconstitutional parts for them to fix.
Leaving in that language makes it easier for the courts to kill.
I am not a sovereign citizen, Its just that I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. I did not see an expiration date on that deal, or an exemption to disregarding it if some legislators, foreigners, or my neighbors tried to subvert the Constitution while using the legal and political framework to destroy it from within. The freedom thieves can only take what you willingly give away.
It’s shocking how little media attention this has gotten and how few gun owners know about it. After reading this thread a couple days ago, I’ve mentioned it to 6-8 other shooters. In every case it was the first they’d heard of it.
Republicans: "We can't figure out why people aren't voting for us. We are the party of reasonableness and common sense."Quote:
I keep voting for the guy that has the "D" next to his name and things always seem to get worse. I can't figure it out..
Also Republicans: Missouri Republicans pass a rule requiring women to cover their arms in the state House chamber (yahoo.com)
EDITED TO ADD: Yes, I get that the above happened in Missouri and not in Colorado, but it illustrates what the modern Republican party has become, at least in the eyes of middle-of-the-road voters. It's become the party of Lauren Boebert, MTG, Matt Gaetz and God help us, Donald Trump.
And we wonder why people vote for Democrats.

I read the news online everyday, including 9news.com. How the hell did I miss THIS??
My heart sinks when I think about how Colorado has changed since I moved here in 2008. My kids have grown up here, it's all they know. My professional reputation resides here. Now, I'm not about to move to another state just because I want my ARs. I almost never shoot them. But the direction of the state will continue, and eventually we'll have the taxes and other things going on that make the bluest states so bad. I just lost my shooting range (Clear Creek in Dumont), because the state wants to close public lands to shooting, so the county cancelled the lease for my range. So now I can't practice for USPSA at my own range, take friends shooting in the mountains, or go shoot clays with my boys on Squaw Pass up above my house. That really stings, and I feel less free.
Sounds like a new range is being constructed in Dumont... https://www.co.clear-creek.co.us/719...Sport-Shooting

Mestaa'Ėhehe Pass, you unforgivably racist monster!
This will likely pass. Review that list, decide what you want to own in the future, and buy it now.
Bumping this back up so everyone sees it. Maybe we should add some context to the thread name so it gets more attention? Something like “Proposed Colorado AWB?”
This should also be in the Politics Forum, not general discussion.
