Denial of Service attack? Slow but invidious. Keep adding guest users until the server shuts down. I can only assume the IP addresses of these guests are coming from all over the place.

As I understand it, the "cookies" this site issues when you log in was changed to not expire for 30 days., If you have a browser window open (or whatever is used on smart phones) and you've been logged into the site within the last 30 days, it will identify you as logged into the site - even if you really aren't.
This appears to be what's going on.
