    Is the counter not registering when someone logs off but add everytime some logs on?

    Good guess Adawg; and very close.

    As I understand it, the "cookies" this site issues when you log in was changed to not expire for 30 days., If you have a browser window open (or whatever is used on smart phones) and you've been logged into the site within the last 30 days, it will identify you as logged into the site - even if you really aren't.

    This appears to be what's going on.

    Looks like somewhere after 10 last night. If I hit "new posts", they go back til then. I've been on and off all day and usually they would clear out.
