I have often wondered if LEO gets a notification of a perp (not some Joe with an unpaid parking ticket) tries to buy a gun gets denied, if it’s a felony to falsify/lie on the BGC form is action taken?
the only time we saw an LE respond to a bad 4473 bgc was when the guy had outstanding warrants. The cbi person asked if we could keep him there by saying the bgc was taking time, while LE was in transit.Quote:

As to the prosecution for those that lie on a 4473, it's almost non-existent. The percentage is so low below 1%, you have to wonder why it's even there at all, at great expense to the taxpayers and our rights.
I won't go into it further, but there are investigations into those who fail the background check and lie on the 4473. Instacheck forwards the most serious of violations for review. I personally have done about a dozen investigations, mostly felons attempting to purchase, but one illegal alien attempting to purchase as well. It lies at the feet of the DA and whether or not they will prosecute, and if they do, do they keep it at the felony level or plea bargain down to a misdemeanor.
