Loaded up some 45 acp with lower powder charge and changed the seating depth since the kaboom with my buddies glock. Will take to the range tomorrow and see how my Kimber cycles and shoots.
Dropped powder down to 5 grains Hod TG and set seating at 1.26.
Investigated what the heck happened yesterday when my LNL AP broke. Discovered that a powder spill (that's another story) had deposited some powder beneath the priming ram, causing it to sit just enough proud to lock up the primer slide, crunch. Got online to see what parts I need to order. Then repaired what I could. Since I had the press off the bench, I moved the mounting holes to the left a few inches so I'm not crammed against the wall when loading. Finished up by loading some previously primed cases until I ran out of 52gr SMKs. That involved skipping the usual sizing/decapping station, and had to laugh when muscle memory took over and I ended up de-priming one case. DOH!
THEN...I got online to see what a Dillon 650 outfit would set me back. I got a smokin' bonus at work, so there's some cash to spare!
Been tumbling/sorting bulk range 9mm brass all weekend.
Would definitely rather be loading.

Trimmed, deburred and maybe I'll prime them later, about 175x 308win cases.
Wet tumbled about 1600 pieces of .40 S&W brass. De-primed about 800 9mm. I'm trying to get every piece of brass I own ready for reloading. It's kinda like getting all my laundry and ironing done at the same time. Almost never happens, but it's nice when it does.
Still really like the stainless tumbler, but there's definitely still a place and a need for my dry tumbler as well.

Setup a workup for 45ACP of WST from 4.2 to 4.8gr. Also working up 308. I have been prepping brass for months, even making my own 300BLK. It's good to finally be getting to the bullet making stages. Now if only the weather would would get nice when I have some time off to test them....
My wife and I just had another conversation tonight about whether or not it would be a good idea to finish the basement. My dad has supposedly had an old Mosler bank vault door stashed in the basement of his office he said I could have. I wonder how much it would cost to haul that sucker up the rickety old stairs and drive it back from Nebraska for a nice sized vault/reloading room. It's an old sucker, grandpa had it way back when he was a small town banker. Aaaah, dreams. Sigh. Have been spending an awful lot lately on stuff for myself, including all that Dillon stuff that's on the way. I should probably focus for a few months on selling some guns instead of buying them.Quote:

Finished neck turning the last of 500 6.5 RSAUM brass. Now to trim the necks and get them annealed.
Over the past week I finished loading all 9mm cases I had...stockpiling 2 30cal cans full. Then I started setting up my 223 case prep tool head with the RT1200B.
Somehow managed to break my 650's primer feed...it stopped indexing correctly. It would half rotate to the next slot, then go back to the previous slot. Noticed the cam arm was bent, so I pulled it out and straightened it but was still having problems. Called Dillon and they're sending me several new parts, which I hope resolved the issue.
Willing to take recommendations, but from my reading, it sounds like my best bet initially would be universal clays or w231/hp38.Quote:

I made the final adjustments to newly received parts for the LNL AP. It's back in business! So I celebrated by loading up a bunch of .223 53gr V-Max.
Then, I had to go to work, and the good times were definitely OVER. Hours of slogging from Ft. Collins, to Greeley, to south Lakewood, back to Ft. Collins...what a crappy day to be driving the Front Range!
As an aside, the pilots on this forum (you know who you are!) will appreciate this, over 20 years ago when I knew I'd be moving to the Front Range, I bought a sectional of this area, and Front Range airport was actually spelled "Front Ranch" airport. Unbelievable.
Brian, I can spot you a couple of pounds of W231...you'll need to pay it back when you get some, though!

In celebration of being released 90 minutes early today along with making it back home from Denver unscathed, I loaded up 100 rounds of .223 with H322 powder and Nosler 40gr varmint projectiles. For some reason making ammo relaxes me...

Broke the decapping pins on both my Lee Universal Decapping Die (purchased 2/21/2014) and Lee Pacesetter Full Length sizing/decapping dies (purchased 5/14/2013) with a single piece of Lake City M193 5.56 brass. Looking into the brass, there is nothing blocking the flash hole. Submitted warranty replacement with Lee already, hope they ship replacement pins to me soon.

There's some tough crimped primer pockets. For this RG mil crimp , i have to use my dillon decapper instead of the lee. The dillon punches them out, where as the lee just rises up in the die.Quote:

As to the decapping pins, are you sure the case was centered in the shellplate/holder? I've gotten crud in the way before which held out the case slightly off center.
These pins did just that too, they slid up in the collets but for some reason, they slid up AFTER they were already damaged. And I wasn't even having to apply an abnormal amount of force to the press, it was very normal. [Dunno]Quote:

supervised more Feng Shui of the dillon reproductive area. Gotta tell ya. Without the help of fellow board members this project, even the first one , would have never got off the ground.
I loaded 50 rounds of .308 yesterday. I was trying two things out:
1. Seeing if my new awesome crimp die will work for .308 also. I only crimped 25, so I've got a little pool to get a decent average with. The crimp is also really light compared to what I've seen on factory ammo.
2. Seeing if the 175 SMK 2nds I got are worth a darn. I picked them up for 22ยข per, so 1k was easy. Even if they are nothing but training rounds for the next month, that'll be worth it.
i crimped 30 rds of my .260 match ammo to see if that will help calm down some of the SD and ES I was seeing.
Was offered this reception desk, if I want to bother dismantling it and somehow getting it into my basement. It's pretty big, but I was thinking of using it both as a computer desk and a reloading desk. I don't use the computer in the basement much, but it's where my media and file server, etc. is. On one hand, I think it'd be perfect, but on the other it's huge and would be a major PITA for me to move...
I'd also probably have to add something stronger to bolt the press to, since I'm pretty sure this wouldn't hold up alone.
