Non Berber, non shag, as thin as possible. Go sample things at lowes, Home Depot, etc. something you can fold 90*, something you can shape and cut without fraying, something that won't show every oil stain, And..something you like.

Sadly ugly green outdoor carpet is easiest, but make a few stops at the local home improvement stores to see what you can find.

Get Burberry carpet!

Carpet/upholstery that Velcro will stick to for the walls and ceiling would be nice in case you want to stick stuff to it. For example I have mag bins, bayonets, and some holsters stuck to my door. Also any materials used inside should be non-hygroscopic. Love that goofy non-hygroscopic word, it means it doesn't absorb water. You want avoid anything that will retain water that can rust or corrode anything in the safe.

Drawers and pullout flat shelves will help get to things in the back. A couple of drawers under a section will let you rack short carbines without wasting the space above the muzzles. Use the heavy 200 pound rated drawer slides, gun stuff is heavy.

You light consider installing a light and power socket inside while you're at it. The power socket would be useful for a Golden Rod or other dehumidifier thing. I've seen light ropes and all white Christmas lights strung around inside to eliminate dark corners.

I use "Rifle Rods" instead of racks for my long guns. I can get a lot more guns in the same space and it's easier to get to the guns in the back. I find it easier to avoid safe rash using the rods also. Their website also has other safe goodies.-

Something water resistant and light in color. This way IF you drop something it's easier to locate.

This guy used OSB inside and covered the pieces before install so it hides the "seams". I think he used speaker carpet.

Actually, I like the idea as long as you reinforce the sides and just stick it in a corner of the garage. Anyone looking at it with no lights on or anything will assume it's just another fixer-upper project collecting dust (especially if you leave the weathering alone). B&E guys probably wouldn't give it a second look as long as you don't show any signs of frequent use and no one sees you opening it.

Phase 2 Teaching on a daily basis and reinforcing firearm safety with your kids.

I have a hard time understanding people who have more then a handgun and not having a firearm safe. When I got my first rifle,
I went out and bought a gun safe that same day even though at the time my wife was a stay at home Mom and rarely the house was
empty for more then 20 minutes.
